Swapped G82 lip spoiler for Dinan CF
Swapped this out today. Was simpler than expected to be honest! I got some 40lb test braided fishing line that sliced through the existing adhesive like butter (wear gloves or you’ll destroy your hand!)
From there I used the 3m adhesive removal wheel on my drill to remove the adhesive. Worked it up and down with the wheel lined up with the adhesive and working into the adhesive. Light pressure but kept it moving so no issues with possibly damaging the clear coat or finish. Took about 8-10 minutes to do the entire thing. From there I used WD-40 to easily wipe away the rubber residue and any remaining adhesive. Sprayed that with glass cleaner to remove the WD-40 residue, then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol before applying the new spoiler. Dry fit the new spoiler, added masking tape in a few spots to aid in positioning of the new spoiler. Pulled the tape and positioned starting at one end getting it lined up just right. Pressed on all for about 5 minutes, then I applied clamps (with rubber ends) to the center and both ends. I used cloth between the clamps to protect the spoiler. Let that dry a few hours, unclamped, cleaned the area and applied a fresh coat of wax to the spoiler and trunk lid. Good to go! All in all, a 3/10 difficulty project and I’m happy with the slightly more aggressive look on the Dinan. The CF weave and clearcoat seems to be pretty much perfect. Very well manufactured. |

Looks good.
You can soak the foam in GoofOff for 20 minutes and the spoiler will come off super easy. |

Can you post more pictures please from different angles, especially from the side?
I was interested in this but couldn’t find enough picture online and I want to make sure it lifts up enough for my taste

Yes I will try and get some more tomorrow. It’s cold and rainy and gross right now so she’s tucked away in the garage. It’s a decently high kick spoiler. More than I expected but it fits perfectly. Fit and finish are flawless that I can see.

But Goof Off is too harsh and can damage clear coat. 3M Automotive Adhesive Remover is the only chemical you should use on automotive paint. You can get it at any auto paint supply store. Goof Off is not worth the risk. IMO the eraser wheel is ideal for what he did. You can always clean the area with the 3M after just to be double sure. |

No offense taken. I actually made a mistake. I meant to say Goo-Gone, not Goof-Off. Those are two competing products, the first one is safe on automotive paints, the latter is the bad one that you speak of.
Apologies for the confusion.
