Black BMW M Badges (non-comp) options?
Hey guys, not a fan of the chrome M3/4 badges on the base, curious where you are buying your M badges (non-competition) in black for the trunk, side markers, and front grille?
Wanted to avoid ebay/amazon knock offs vs car sites that might offer better quality. Is the sizing different for the side markers and front grill against the trunk? I was thinking maybe just order the M Competition badge from IND, and just throw away the competition piece since it's not attached https://ind-distribution.com/product...em-gloss-black Unless there are better options, thoughts? |

I have been thinking about this as well. I don't like making our cars look like something they not as in a competition, but I'm not a chrome fan either. As long as is stays with just M3/4 I think that I would be ok with that and have been thinking about doing this.
I think the ind part is fine, just omit competition as you stated. Will be pricey to change all on the car, but we'll worth vs going plastidip. I can say though, keeping it chrome calls out the manual and I think that also makes the car stand out in its own way.

Do you know if the side markers are smaller, still not sure if they are or aren't. And not sure what to do about the front grill as I think it's an attached piece. |

Fitting the OEM black badge supplied by IND is the best option. I went back and forth on this as I also don’t care for chrome, but for now leaning towards leaving it as is. As mentioned, it’s the only identifier from outside so it’s nice to have the differentiation.
No matter what, don’t Plasti Dip. It will look like trash. |

I was told they could not be ordered separately when looking to buy them for CF upgraded side vents - so you're probably looking at ordering the competition part here, then carefully removing the competition portion of the badge...which would leave sticky residue to be cleaned up and probably a remaining M3/M4 badge that appeared off-center or in the wrong spot.

This generation m3 badge is too small compared to the f80 badge. I think I'm gonna get the larger f80 badge and remove the competition logo. But there is also the fitment....

Carbon sides with the competition removed. Simple!

I bought the OEM G82 M4 Comp trunk badge from my local dealer and installed it without the competition strip. Easy.
The front and side badges are so tiny that they bother me less. |

On my F82 Competition I had a Dinan S2 package installed and the Dinan badges only came in chrome (before Dinan started offering black lettering) and I just took them to a reputable paint shop and they painted them the same color as my M badge. Cost me like $40 or something like that.

Does anyone have pictures of the IND or similar M4 black badge on a black/frozen black or at least dark color car? Wondering if it blends too much/gets washed out without the competition word under it. Thanks! |

Funny, I’m actually thinking about going the opposite direction from the Black comp M3 lettering to the chrome to match the xdrive badge that compliments my chrome exhaust tips and my bicolor 825Ms.
I’d keep the Competition portion of my badge I just feel like the black “M3” gets lost in my darker paint. So to confirm the rear “M3” badges are the same size regardless of color, correct? |

I did see the new LCI seems to have black badges outline in chrome so that may be both our answers! |
