Spacers

Do spacers serve a purpose other than aesthetic?

Are there any drawbacks to putting spacers on (a non lowered car)?

Theoretically, adding spacers will change your suspension geometry. The most significant effect is probably changing the scrub radius, which changes steering. Having said that, most spacers people are adding are quite small, and most people aren't driving these cars to their limits on track anyway. As such, chances are you're not going to notice anything unless you are an advanced driver.

I've bought 10mm front and 12mm rears for when my MSS springs go on in a few weeks time

Hopefully this will avoid tyre rub (Pirelli's) but will fill the arches a bit, so the wheels (particularly the fronts) don't get lost once it's sitting a bit lower

there's no negative effect on performance as long as they are hub centric. theoretically, increasing track width increases grip but there are more important factors that affect grip such as camber than the width the spacers add. we use spacers regularly on race cars, more for tire clearance than anything else.
