It seems the M3 forum has changed as much as the M3 grill...here we just got the ring time within 2s margin for a new M3 and all of four members found it worth commenting on...

I'll be very, very impressed if this thing is in the 20s - that is very good company to be in. Wonder what would be left in the tank for the CSL version

My guess a lot. Maybe up to 100 extra hp, a few hundred lbs lighter, huge aero. Monster. I think we can take the 7:2X factory time for the competition car to the bank based on the source. It will be interesting to see what the Sport auto supertest manages.

My guess, based on BMW's track record on special editions/CS would be:

1. + 50hp/30lbft - I haven't seen BMW be willing to advertise a 100hp increase, and based on what we're seeing, G8X probably doesn't need it
2. - 50lbs (net); they will advertise more weight saved but some of it will be due to optioning items like CCBs that are available on regular cars. GTS was really no lighter than a CS but it put the weight in go-fast areas - I imagine a G8X CSL will do the same
3. Manually adjustable, track specific suspension (maybe next gen KW CS) and even more aggressive alignment
4. Fitted with Michelin SC2Rs
5. Aero - aggressive splitter and waaang, similar to GTS in that it won't be GT3/4 proportioned aero

Should blitz the 'ring with that

And why do we think this is the case? Looks aside, its just not a track car no matter how fast it is. The bigger the car gets and the more upmarket it goes continually changes the demos and those concerned with track times are not looking at the GM3/4.

We got the ring time? Sorry I'm not sure who the person is that posted originally; would they know that information and can you point me to it please. Thanks!

It sure will be interesting to see. Personally I suspect that BMW does not dust of the mythical CSL moniker to be an equivalent of the GTS. I believe they want it to retain its current status of the absolute pinnacle of M. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Post #51 and #53. Combine them and you have the time with 1s accuracy (It’s either 7.29.0 or 7.28.0). And yes this poster 100% know the time.

One of the big killer for the GTS weight was the 0.5" wider boat anchor 666M wheels. I really wonder why they did not pick a more weight efficient wheel design for the GTS. Maybe to be able to seel super expensive CF wheels instead :

They've been rehashing the same vitriol for months without end and nothing about these cars performance will satisfy them. To admit the car has some good attributes would invalidate all the conspiracy they've been spewing. After all they're the enlightened ones and we are drinking the kool-aid.

Anyhow, I expected great ring times from these cars since BMW did admit that they benchmarked the GTS.

Yeah I never really understood the 666M wheels - they always seemed and still seem unnecessarily complex and heavy due to the complexity. The 763M adaptation of the GT3/GT4 style wheel that BMW had historically been using would have probably been a better choice with hindsight. I personally think it would have been really cool to see an 18in GT3/4 style setup or option. I imagine the G8X CSL/GTS will come with the new 763M/FI-R style M-Performance wheels (hopefully not with those acid green highlights though I know they said it was a "development wheel" but that comes off to me like a cover)

I might be mistaken, but I believe solstice meant it the other way around, where there seems to be little interest in the G8X community about the car's track performance on the 'ring. I have to assume though that when the time is officially published, there will be will be more substantial discussions traffic.

Yes I can only guess that either the subject hide the content or people don’t realize that that we got the time directly from the horse’s mouth.

That or people don’t understand just how crazy fast a 7.2X time is for a stock M4.

I think most people just don't care about that. Its 0-60 and how fast they can get to the next stop light and look good doing it.

Shit like this is part of the problem with this forum. It works both ways and you trying to make the F8x fans the bad guys based on you completely misinterpreting what solstice was saying is laughable.

It seems the Corsas are favored on AWD cars since I see Lambo often use them for fast laps, are they better suited than the Cup 2s for this application or is that just a Viva Italia co-development thing? What is the reason you consider/favor Corsas on the G82 AWD?

That's my observation and it's valid up to now, look around and see for yourself where countless members denounce this car's performance as being inferior or barely better than predecessor before embargo and now even after cars are being reviewed and being picked up by actual owners. Furthermore, I didn't even specify who that sub group were since it's apparent not all F80, G20, F30, E90 (inserts any BMW sub group) enthusiasts hate this iteration.

If anybody is talking shit it's you who took it upon yourself to quote me and gets personal because somehow I offended you and other F80 fans which is both laughable and preposterous.
