Hi,
I think I fugged up… again. 🙈😅
I getting my M4 on Monday and wanted a “customized” steering wheel, so I just ordered and paid for a M Performance steering wheel.

Plan was to have it sent and get a grey stripe instead of the blue and have heating added too. And then use my carbon trim from the standard steering wheel.

BUT why is it that it doesn’t work if you have Driving Assistant Professionel?
I just thought I could move all the parts over and forgot too check before I paid (of course &#128513

Some aftermarket wheels have that option but guess the bmw one doesn't.
Can you return it?

No, can’t return it because they had to order it from Germany.
But I think I know what it is. It the “touch” you have to make to keep the automatic cruise control active. Can be BMW uses something under the leather that senses when you touch the steering wheel. But the guy I found can add that too.
Just weird because the Mercedes I just sold senses resistance on the steering coloum. Meaning I could just put a finger on the “arm” on the steering wheel, without touching the leather, and then it would stay active.

Garage List
BMW's has a touch/pressure sensor in the wheel itself. If the wheel doesn't support it, it won't be usable.

Sucks but you'll have to find a way around this. Sell it I guess.

Isn't there an emulator that will tell the car you're always touching the wheel? Saw it on ebay i think.

Here it is https://www.ebay.com/itm/374061587381 but out of stock, think it's on aliexpress too.
Might need some coding but not positive.

Found a company in Germany to do the leather and I THINK he maybe have something like OEM sensors to put in the steering wheel. But my German ain’t 100% so I’m not quiet sure what is meant with the last option in field no. 14.
Gotta call and ask Monday.

This HOD emulator worked on a 2024 i4 M50 custom steering wheel, needs dip switches setup.

What’s that and how did you find out how to set it up if it wasn’t plug n play?
