Rubber spoiler (?) under front lip is tearing and damaged

Hello.

I noticed that the rubber spoiler under the front lip is tearing. We must have parked too close to a parking block or something.

I say "spoiler" because I don't know what it is called. But it is the straight rubber piece right in front of the horizontal radiator. Is it designed to manage air flow over the radiator?

The car has not been in the air yet, but just sticking my head under the car I did not see any obvious bolts to remove and replace it. Tomorrow I will put the front on jack stands.

But please tell me that this can be easily replaced. I hope it isn't a part of that front radiator bracket (leave it to Germans to do something like that...).

Has this piece tore or gotten damaged on anyone else's M3 or M4?

Thanks!

It pulls right off and can be replaced easily.

People swap this over onto aftermarket oil cooler shields all the time.

Thanks!

Got a name for the piece so I can try and find a part number to order it?

Glad it's an easy fix.

Ugh.

I had the car on stands today and got a closer at it. I see how easily the rubber deflector slides off.

Unfortunate, the plastic piece that holds the deflector (and also appears to be a part of the oil cooler mount) is cracked.

Does anyone have any advice on if this is easily replaced be me, or is this dealer level service?

I doubt they'd cover even if you're at stock ride height since they'll just call it wear and tear.

I didn’t touch a thing, it’s completely OEM suspension.

I have an appointment scheduled with the dealership.

I will let you all know how it goes. If they have to take the oil cooler out to replace the plastic mount it is probably going to be expensive.

There does not appear to be any obvious damage to the rubber deflector, so I don’t think we jammed it on a curb.
