They want to keep the factory churning, sure, but all things equal, delaying a BW26 car to BW28 nets them an additional $3-4k per unit, so there's some good incentive not to rush them.
Judging by how many cars they are building, they'd be losing money. The more cars they build in 2022, means the more they will be able to build in 2023.

My original week 9 build got bumped by 2-3 weeks at a time going back to 111 and 112 each time, but it hasn't helped me. I've been back to 105 and told by my CA it will be MY23 since April.
There is something your CA is not telling you for sure, can't wrap my head around any other explanation, have yet to see anyone on here that have had this happen to them. Also I just got my two friends allocations one M3 went into production 2 weeks after ordering and the other is an M4 MY23 October-November. I got my allocation in Feb and ordered October and here I am at port. All other excessive delays are after status 150

This has happened to a ton of people. My original build week was 5, and I've been bumped repeatedly. Now I'm at 25 in 112. This year is crazy.

But you're not MY23? And not bumped from April (weeks 9~13) straight to MY23, we have all been getting bumped bit by bit I am production 5/30 and had placed it in October.

I’ve been at 105 status for a full month with no update, CA has no updates. I was 112 for a month before that. None of it makes sense.

Below is from an email chain April 13 my CA forwarded to me from BMW NA:

Quote:
NJ said this unit in 105 will be flipped to a MY23 model in a few weeks, they should do that, if not NJ will let us know as it gets closer to the MY23 release date so we can make the change to a MY23 . Just watch it.

Thanks,

Unfortunately, the build will have to be a MY23 model, there are no more slots for the MY22 builds in this model.

Thanks,

"this model" is the G80 6MT, yes? I feel like I remember you being a 6MT. Which makes sense because I'm 6MT and also 105 for a month now.

I imagine this is the same email that my CA received. I ordered in January with a week 5 build. Moved to week 16 or 17. Then in early April flipped to status 105. When I asked my CA about it he said he would contact the regional manager. He then told me that at the beginning of April they said mine would be a MY23 and there is no chance of it being built as a MY22. My order is M3 Comp xDrive.

I know it won't change anything but I'd still be curious to know what is it about our prod numbers or builds that caused this.

Doesn't make sense to me either. I think they didn't do this because it would be easier for them to take the prod numbers they couldn't build in x week and push them to the next open spot which would usually be months later at this point. It doesn't matter to them because they are still building cars at their max capacity. I could see it getting real messy if they started bumping everyone to the next week and continuing that down line while also factoring in part availability.

Went back to 105 - Order Received this afternoon. Looks like I'll be a MY23. Just hope they schedule the car for production already as I've seen people get scheduled past week 26.

Sorry to hear... Their scheduling dept is just comical at this point isn't it.

I asked the sales manager at the dealership to get more information, because my build kept getting pushed out each week to the next week. Monday they told me I moved from week 23 to 24, but that I would get a MY22. Today my CA got back to me and said that "they" confirmed my car would be MY22 and built on 6/27. Really hoping that I don't wait until the bitter end and then get pushed to MY23. Been in 112 since March.

You should go to 150 status (and get a VIN) about 2 weeks prior to your build date. I was in the same situation; I've been moving all over the place since January; even told I was a MY23 when I went to 105 status in April…then out of the blue, I went back to 112 and 150 shortly there after. I have been told so many things since this process started, I only rely on the facts; to nobody's fault, it's just the situation at the moment. I'm sitting in the paint booth now, so that's the only fact I will use. So, I know I'll have a MY22, but it's anybody's guess when it will arrive at my dealership.

Yeah, I've come to realize that nobody knows anything with much certainty until there is a VIN. Just glad that I have a little different (hopefully better) information to manage expectations. I guess I'm a masochist since I am also building a house right now and dealing with similar issues. However, the house is going to take about 6 months less time from start to finish.

New to the thread. Just checked and I am 112 status with BMW genius. Does everyone in week 26 go to 150 at the same time?

So does that mean that anyone that is at 112 right now is going to be week 26 which is the last week of production for MY22 cars.

That's a good question!! I stopped trying to guess their plans and procedures…once you go 150 and get a VIN, you "should" be good.
