Did they use the provided template to cut a horizontal slot? Hard to tell how it passes through the cover and why it's rotated off horizontal. Also, it comes with a rubber band (O Ring) to fold it up when not in use - or you should be able to feed it into the cover so it only hangs out a few inches (if you prefer that look).

Yes they did. I didn’t get the box it was in back (which had the two o rings) annoying but they did it for free, so can’t moan too much!

That’s how it should have come from the factory in my opinion. Did you notice any drastic difference in reduction of response of turn-in with 20’s up front? Supposedly that’s why BMW runs these staggered and smaller sized setups up front.

I can see that being an issue potentially
Might not feel as responsive that quickly
The benefit of added grip/traction should help alleviate that issue rather quickly (I would assume)

I have not driven much on this setup yet
5km maybe to ensure there was no rubbing etc

new Cup2Rs

I managed to finally get a set of Cup2Rs and swapped out the Pilot 4s tires. Wow, every review of the car on 4s tires should be ignored, ditto reviews in the cold, damp, wet, with punctures and other issues. In the right conditions (not hard to find in California but I understand it's harder elsewhere) it's mind blowing and I can't wait to track it.

On a separate note, and in answer to a recent post about buying a CSL, there's loads for sale across the US and therefore the value of these things has plummeted. This is the problem with speculators and it's also the reason manufactures should stamp down on ADMs. If you paid an ADM you're now massively out of pocket. BMW should be ashamed, as should every manufacturer who took advantage of consumers (their customers) during covid when supply chains were jacked up. I'll never buy another BMW.....but I'm not selling my CSL, there's nothing else like it.

The CSL grill comes with the red decal pre-installed and is not available as a separate part. If you're asking about knock-off grills you're in the wrong thread.

No not knock off grills because I was looking at a csl and the grill did not have the red decal which was very weird so I was curious did the owner maybe take it off?

Ah yes, that is likely. Easy to peel off.

Looking for suggestions or opinions for my CSL. I am looking for a more aggressive tone so wanting to get a midpipe at the minimum and Awron valve controller when plug and play harness comes out. Most everyone prefers the sound of a single but to me an equal length sounds good too. So I’m torn. In general will one or the other give better flow. I don’t want any performance loss. Here in Indiana we have no smog laws that I know of so also thought maybe get some Active Autowerke Gesi downpipes to guarantee no CEL. As for midpipes my thoughts were AA single vs equal length midpipe which is made here in US or Valvetronic titanium midpipe, get more weight savings but made in China. Thanks in advance.

Those are good choices for which I don't have experience but will share my thought process. In order of importance, I wanted to take weight out, improve performance, value, ability to be quiet when needed, and lastly sound. I went with C-less DPs (MAD), resonated single mid (MAD), and AWRON controller. Going single is lighter and eliminates the heavy crossover pipe but I did decide to go with the small mid-pipe resonator to help with rasp. I generally drive the car with the valves closed until 70% throttle or 5500 rpm as configured in the AWRON interface. This keeps it about as quiet as stock with no drone until I get on it - then all hell breaks loose and it is very loud. I really have no idea how it sounds outside of the car but plan to get some video soon. An artifact of this setup is even in Sport+ decel burbles and pops are stifled with the valves closed - which is not necessarily a bad thing. If I want this experience, I simply hit the exhaust button on the console to force the valves open and it's pretty obnoxious. This setup took out 48lbs but if you are sensitive to exhaust odor it's not advised - it smells like every other track car I've owned so it's familiar to me.

Thanks so much for the input. So to keep it slightly civilized I figure high flow cat downpipes. I’m wondering how much weight savings is a steel single midpipe as opposed to Valvetronic EL midpipe which doesn’t use the crossover pipe.

I've concluded the HAS kits lack spring rate to pair properly with the CSL dampers. I went with the H&R VTF which anecdotally are on the stiffer side for HAS kits (no one would give me actual spring rates). Ride is fine, street use and reasonably hard canyon driving is ok, but was disappointed on track. Reaction and change of direction was sluggish and worsened in sport/+ which felt hard and overdamped. To achieve a lower stance with reasonable performance it's fine, but changes the CSL recipe. It doesn't seem anyone is interested in offering a HAS kit with stiffer springs for the CSL. I'll be changing to proper C/O setup soon.

Thank you for your input. I’ve ordered the V5 clubsport but wanted something to hold me off till they get in.
I’m going to install camber plates and a few other items and test it on the track in a few weeks at stock ride hight.
A close friend got a csl and it’s going to be a track track for this coming season.
I’ll post pics and etc when it’s ready.
Thank you
