Hey folks,

I just put a deposit down on a 23' G80 drive that's currently in status (112) which is estimated to possibly move into production on week 16. I'm a little torn on which color to get but ultimately would love to get an individual color. However as I'm learning this process is not as simple as just paying more money. I do understand that BMW has to approve it and it may push your production date back some. Can you all give me some insight into how long this process takes (Approval)? How long it would conceivably push my order back? Or is it not possible because my car is in 112 status now?

I’m not sure if you’re too late for an individual color, or a color change. I do know it’ll delay your build significantly. I did Zanzibar 2 on my M440 build a year and half ago and it delayed my build 10 weeks. Evidently they paint individual colors in batches.

Times have changed so I would not take my experience as a matter of fact and more so as anecdotal. My build week was pushed only 3 weeks for Dakar Yellow from the original build week.

Enter the chassis and what not to see the paints that are available.

Also, understand this. If you do anything “individual” it will lock your order. Anything individual, meaning, I know someone who ordered Fjord blue interior, with white exterior and went back to change the exterior color and the order was locked. I’d never heard of the interior locking an order, but apparently this happened.

Individual colors lock the order. Once you chose an individual color, it will lock your order. Be 100% sure of your exterior and interior colors, when you submit your order.

Individual interior colors are Fjord Blue, Ivory White, Fiona Red and Tartufo.

The interior colors you listed are considered individual and marked so your vehicle inquiry report. They have an associated individual block date (along with an individual trim).

An individual exterior color (like say San Marino Blue) locks at status 112. You can get changes made in status 111, but does require BMW NA to make a request to the factory.
