I'm waiting for Vörsteiner's solution. Haven't been to crazy about their recent M4/M6 designs, but curious what they'll do.

They wouldn’t have been able to keep that car on showroom floors. Pretty much a perfect M bumper design. If that can be built to OEM standards, I’d seriously consider it. Sadly, these aftermarket solutions always miss the mark when it comes to the details - either the build quality isn’t quite there, or they fail to exercise enough discipline and let the design get a little bit too wild. Usually, both areas are lacking. Eager to see how this ends up.
As much as the current grille has grown on me, I do hope BMW M is taking notes for the refresh. |

Agree that some folks will like this style and possibly grow on others. For me this is plain ugly and really can't comprehend how this passed all the way to production.

What's ironic is that many members here have been complaining about dilution of M with cars like the M340i. There was a massive thread last year where numerous real M car owners invaded the thread voicing their displeasure with the M340i.
The consensus then was it's not special enough to wear the badge and basically made arguments that supported differentiation of real M products. Isn't that what the G80/82 are. Nobody can now mistake a M340i for a real M3, it's distinct and I would wager a good thing.

LOL. I hate the G8X M grill just as much as the next guy, though I agree - this really is in the wrong forum...

For me it's not just the grills, it's the enormous size of this car, both in pics, in person, and driving it.
I haven't driven the new M4, but I recently had a G22 M440i xDrive service loaner, and it was was huge. Excessively huge. Almost as long as my X5 (just a few inches shy). Just my .02. |

The new grill doesn't bother me and it makes me laugh at how people are going crazy about the whole thing. If anything it's keeping these E90 prices up and the car world more interesting. My thought is if you don't like it don't buy it or choose from the other multitudes of M3 platforms out there.

yes
of course vote with your wallet however its a bummer when the M3 faithful do not find new car inspiration from the newest generation it's as simple as that, for me. when new M3s were launched, it has been: "hell yeah!" true for e36, e46, e9x, even f80 but this.... and in a rare moment in time, I agree with Chris Harris

Notice anything interesting about the grille in this email I received from BMW this week? Hahaha.

Not sure how the local email templates work/sent out. But I believe it's all done locally at the dealership.
Some marketing person / internet sales manager probably relied on a Google image search or used some random file they had laying around rather than the assets given to them by BMW. |
