Valvetronic Recall
You just can't make this stuff up...was readying to take delivery of my 2024 XM Label and found out today that there's a Delivery Stop from BMW. Issue is Valvetronic, but don't have many more details. Affects all produced vehicles from 9/30/21 until 4/9/24. Unreal! I think leasing is the only way to go as I've gone from hating the look of this car, to wanting it badly and loving its beastly curves...LOL! Wonder if I should re-price my deal? What do y'all think?

Affects vehicles going back to 2021? Is this across the board? Should be a recall posting soon then, as you cannot stop sale a ‘21 at this point.

Great… Hopefully they have a fix when mine goes in for the 1200 mile breakin service. Moving out of state beginning of June and they cannot keep my vehicle “until a fix” is ready.

My X7 has this code as well. Looking at the network trace on the recall site, it says:
defectCode: "STOP025416" defectCodeDescription: "F95 F96 G05 G06 G07 G09 G70 - VALVETRONIC" recallType: "Emission" Seems emissions related. I'm hoping it's just a software update that doesn't affect performance/reliability. |

I'm almost at 1200 miles so planning on scheduling the 1200 mi service soon. Will see a) if there's a fix by then and b) what it entails.

I went in today to my dealer to swap in my summer tires. Talked to the service manager, and he confirmed that this is active. But they don't have what they call a 'remedy' for it yet. He said to call him in a couple weeks to see whats going on.
I personally have no CEL's yet.

Besides the NHTSA Recall Lookup, I've also been checking the BMW Recall Lookup Tool:
https://my.bmwusa.com/safety-and-emission-recalls Neither of them showing anything (yet).

My 25 X5M just came in (it impacts my wife’s X7 M60i as well) and my salesperson said it is indeed a software update and showed me the message from BMW….BMW indicates they are targeting tomorrow for the remedy (as of Monday).

Update: Heard back from the dealer. Software fix from BMW scheduled for arrival today. Takes the dealer 24 hours to process the software before they start applying to the cars open for recalls. My purchase should proceed early next week...when XMs are officially off the delivery-stop/stop-sale status.

Recall for valvetronic issue solved today
One of my tires not holding air after a pothole on I10 East of San Antonio!!!!
During the visit today to replace the tire, my lovely service advisor Lulu at Advantage BMW Midtown (Houston) told me there is a valvetronic recall that only just popped up on their system. Service bulletin 120224 required her to update my software to 03/2024.47. I can't seem to find much on what this entails. Any intel out there? |

My dealer told me it had to do with the software that controls the valves/timing in the engine. Seemed to think it had something to do with emissions. I wasn't too convinced but I have no way to argue with him. Maybe someone out here is a master tech and can tell us? I posted the actual bulletin in this thread...

I think this is to control the VANOS or whatever the new name if they change it.
