I think this is what others are seeing too, that KW in the rear cant go up enough...I like the height but its not for everyone.

Yup. I am one of those who feel its not high enough.

I sent a message to KW USA office about this. They said they have sold 270 kits and not had one mention of the rear being too low. I showed them this thread and they just came back with a canned response about needing to see a install specifications check list. Meaning they wanted to see all the measurements they had on this install specification list before discussing anything more. Which I understand. But look how many of us feel its too low. I mean they all cant be installed wrong. So they where not much help considering I dont have a kit installed.

Because of that I will sadly have to pass on buying a KW this time around. I might just go the MSS route. That or wait for BMW HAS.

MSS had their own issues where the front didnt go low enough, irony at its finest. But that has been rectified.

Eric got H&R VTF and his drop looks good so you might want to ask him.

I saw a car with H&R springs in person over the weekend and it looked pretty spot on. Just like your old F80.

Yea it looks like the HR spring has the stance I want for sure! 100% agree. I just want full adjustability.

Vic just informed me a mutual friend of ours has the H&R VTF kit installed. I will most likely go see him for a test ride. They seem to have much more adjustability on the way up in the rear than KW does so it might be the way I go this time around.

First few sets are reserved for house installs, but I have more on the way. Send me over a PM if you want to reserve a set.

Is there a reason why people hesitate to go H&R? I think they look the best...so I assume it must be the ride?

I've had several H&R sport springs in the past on different vehicles.
I didn't get a chance to ride in a G8x (or any other G8x for that matter) with H&R installed, but seems like the general consensus is that it's a little harsh and bouncy compared to other offerings.

Correct. Ive heard they are bouncy and or too soft since my E9X days onward. Thats my concern. Id much rather have KW, but the saggy ass really ruins it for me. And using a spacer on the KW kit changes the preload that KW had setup without a spacer.

I have no experience with H&R, but I have heard the exact same thing from many who have had H&R.

So for now, I continue to monster truck my X.

@BIGW0RM
I don't see why the spacer would change the preload of the spring?

It's not compressing the spring anymore then the weight of the vehicle. It's just raising the Height of the vehicle on top of the spring.

A couple of items in the truck would change the preload more then this spacer.

If the vehicle was at a fixed height and you added the spacer- I see the issue but that's not the case.

The guy I talked to who had H&R on his G80 said the ride was perfect, so maybe things have changed. Then again everyone's definition of perfect is different.

I have had H&R on quite a few of my M's and did find that I was getting too many compression bounces down and up... I have not had them on my two G80's but if they are ok its because of the new dampers which are really really good with the G80 vs the likes of my F82 and F10 and other chassis'.

Ride quality is so subjective though.

To be honest, Im not sure how it works or plays a part on the G8X.

But I did a front end leveling kit on my former raptor. I believe it was just a top hat spacer but that did in fact make my front end much more stiff. I ended up removing those for longer springs shortly afterwards.

So based on my limited experience, I assumed it would do the same thing on the G8X.

After driving on my kit for a few miles now I'm questioning whether or not I will actually get the spring spacers... kind of liking the slammed look. But we'll see how I feel once I get my wheels on with proper offsets.

Ride is good. Different than OEM, maybe not as plush? From my experience, stiffness didn't seem to change once I got the rear higher. I noticed this before adding the spacers though. And while I can go higher, I'm sure once the spring starts to compress more before loading it, it will likely start to degrade ride quality. Like mentioned above, the real fix would be a spring that's a tad taller.

Ive put a few hundred miles on mine since install. The ride is great. You can barely tell your driving a lowered car. Pretty much feels stock. A tad stiffer.

What I found with the KWs (no spacer) is that the car feels slightly more comfortable in the Sport suspension setting. It seems like maybe it is ever so slightly under-dampened in comfort. The stiffer sport setting seems to smooth out the ride a bit.

My wife drove the car for the first time since KW install yesterday, in sport mode, and I asked her if she could tell any difference in the ride and she said no.

Dang; I'm glad that I haven't installed my kit yet.

So, where did you obtain the spacer?

I bought a couple sets.. 15mm from KW NA, and the 30mm from ECS.

This is my ride height with the rear at one thread below max height.

I ordered a pair of the 15mm spacers with the goal of raising it 5-8mm. With my new wheels (20x11 +12, 295 tire) I have a slight rub at full compression. Hoping this resolves that and events out the front/rear height a little more.

If I did not rub I probably would leave it alone.
