How is the xpel for orange peel? I’m told other brands are better/more smooth? In the past I’ve had bad luck with clear bra but the product has come a long way in 10yrs. Just looking for your thoughts 💭

For the g80, full hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, side valances, and section behind rear tires.

Doing more has diminishing returns. But the darker the car, the more ppf keeps the paint looking good - more about swirls and similar than damage from rock chips.

Ultimately, it comes down to cost. I do ppf on every car and bike but the more expensive the car, the easier it is to justify the expense.

Did all painted and carbon surfaces on the bike but have never done a full car.

Full car ppf and CF partd, inside panels, rear of the buckets, they removed every lights/window trims/CF parts. I even doubled ppf at some parts on the fender and side skirts.

Full front, leading edge of rear fenders, headlights, mirrors. That covers 95% of the areas prone to damage and in my view is best ROI.

I'm also going to do the roof more for UV protection than anything else.

Full.

If your installer does not remove door handles and badges before doing the PPF, call another one until you find such

Partial front (bumper/half of hood/headlights/pillars/mirror covers) as well as all of the gloss black trim around the car. They also put some on the door cups and rear bumper below the trunk.

Trying to PPF the whole car, but couldn't justify the cost. I have a BSM G82 and was considering going XPEL Stealth, but that required a full "bespoke" install to really get into all the seams vs. precut since it's stealth. Settled for just front end (Hood, fender, bumper and ducts), door cups (cringe when I see scratch marks) and the top of the rear bumper near the cargo area. Then going to polish and seal with ceramic coat elsewhere.

I ceramic coated the car with Kamikaze ISM Coat 3.0. Very user friendly.

The 10 Mil sounds like overkill, but if you use the car as a daily or track it then it really pays off in the end.

I took delivery of the car in Oct 2022, 24,700 miles and 2000 track miles on it.
In Virginia car cost to PPF with 10 mil was 5600.00 and 3 days. Well worth the expense. I had rubber and tread chunks hit the hood, see a rubber scuff, or bird taking a good crap on it and it cleans up well. It isnt "self healing (if there is such a thing)", but after cleaning up baked on bird crap and seeing the acid etching and thinking "glad it's ppf" ... several day later in the sun and I could not easily identify where the spot was. Two thumbs up. Also I didn't do the roof... doesn't live outside and not much danger from track and road debris hitting the roof.

200%

First my entire car is wrapped in color vinyl wrap. And then the entire car is wrapped in stealth PPF.

I'm about to take delivery of a new (to me) 2021 G82 MT with only 300 miles. I would like to have PPF applied to the most vulnerable areas of the car or the whole car depending on cost.

What are people spending on PPF for the whole car? Looks like around $5k? Thanks!

And any recommendations for a place near Denver, CO?

g80 xdrive comp.
i did full front, mirrors, lower rocker, and strip under the bootlid on the rear bumper.

i've noticed chips on the driver doors (from the front wheels). I'm Not bothered.

If this is your baby, then probably going full would be best.

Whole car, including all carbon parts as well. Aside from protecting the paint, I love the fact that it self heals from the 'wash scratches'. No matter how particular I am with washing techniques, it's inevitable. Now, I never need to get a color correction to polish out the swirls.

I can’t comment on recommendations for Denver, but in regards to cost, my G80 was fully wrapped in XPEL Steath for about $8K. My best advice is do your research and base your decision accordingly on reviews and experience, not the cost.

I could have probably saved $2K by going with another installer, but would I have gotten the same quality of work and experience that I did? I doubt it. Not always, but from what I discovered, you get what you pay for.

Good advice. So far I've been quoted $7500 for a whole car application from what seems like a reputable installer but more research is required. They use UPPF and SunTek paint protection films.
Are you happy with the XPEL Stealth film? And how thick a film would you recommend? I'm not planning on tracking the car, etc. I read that 10mm is overkill if not, but if I'm investing, I'd like to get the most protection possible. Thanks.

STEK is really good stuff. I think it’s between XPEL and STEK.
As previous comment mentioned investigate the place. Look at the IG, look at cars they do. Try to go there and talk to the shop and see if there is car they are working on to make sure work quality is good.
For full PPF they need to be ok with removing door handles for sure. I would also look at how they handle edges. Good quality is when they go around the edge that helps PPF stay for long time. Of course when there is spot where two panels meet it may be impossible to go around the edge so keep that in mind.
