Yes, M Performance is a shitshow. Every dealer is going to be ordering cars loaded with this crap to drive the price up.

Indeed! I owe $45k on mine and the dealer is willing to give me $50k for it with 16,000 miles on the odometer. I'm considering it. I'm going to check and see what Carmax will give me for it. They gave me a better offer on my 2014 335i than the dealership did.

The front of the MP car I would be okay with if it were all one color. It's the back that really threw me off.

Launch video

Amusing to watch today's launch video back to back with the one from 6 years ago

F8X vid... showcases the innate nuance & finesse of M cars on-limit.

G8X vid... some of the above albeit diminished by scruffy dapper types predisposed to parkour/dance, wielding chainsaws, and screaming psychotically for no apparent reason. Exactly how these antics relate to the car, is clearer to M div than it is to me.

These actors remind me of the rent-a-reps many brands deploy into shopping centres to represent cars for which they have neither empathy nor any clue about... just saying

I don’t understand which demographic they are trying to target with this 80k car. Maybe some of the wealthier WRX fanboys? No decent person will be able to show up at work with this vehicle.

Best angle?

Struggling to digest the rear of the M Performance version - especially the titanium exhaust layout and the diffuser, which rises up the rear bar way too high for my liking

disappointed to see the idea of having a CSL version of this pig disappear once we knew what the weird looking centered quad exhuasts belong to, a laughable performance parts catalogue. Its also a relief that a CSL wont have a trapiziod quad exhausts.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

as long as they dont make the same shitshow on the M2, I am fine with them messing up the 1er.

I’m not sure why they’re calling it a diffuser as it sure is not diffusing any airflow with that vertical shape.

They've really gone mental with the design, this is some tacky 2000's Pimp My Ride crap. Not one bit of elegance anywhere to be found.
I had a 37K mile, manual 2003 E46 M3 in CBM that I sold last year for a bargain. I totally regret it now. What a beauty the E46 was. This is such a terrible mess of a design by comparison to something so elegant and simple as the E46.

I guess BMW is so 'hip' that their avant-garde ads are exempt from having to adhere to good art direction.
Right, the ad isn't catering to the traditional driving enthusiasts with motoring culture, refined taste and brand memory, but to the unstable, unhinged, impulsive individuals with no emotional control, no taste and no driving skills, who are compulsively shopping to make the loudest and most garish possible statement of how shitty they feel about themselves.

Beat me to it!!

I still think M8 styles grilles would be way better ... the M Perf car looks very SEMA. hard pass... still love the seats/interior, standard rear end, and all black wheel options .. hood looks good despite the lack of power dome... grilles not great but I'm getting over it...
