Oil cooler guard / skid plate
Hey guys. I know some have installed oil guards. I was wondering if anyone used this one from Mishimoto
https://www.mishimoto.com/bmw-g80-m3...late-2021.html Price looks good and seems like good quality. Aluminum with powder coating. Please comment !! |

I'm interested too, on sale and looks like it actually does stuff unlike some of the other stuff I've seen.

I have the Turner Motorsport. It seems like having one is more important than which one.

BMW designed the front lip to create negative pressure which helps the oil cooler operate effectively. Any issues with that grille there messing up the aero?

Besides the addition of physical skid plate the air dam is built to mimick the stock rubber dam. Not sure, but it already saved my oil cooler twice. I live in NY and drive some rough terrain. Someone just totaled their g80 yesterday by hitting the oil cooler and leaking out. I’ll take the chance, if any.

Yea this one is like half the price of the one they selling on IND. but it looks very similar and is aluminum and coated.
I am too concerned with rocks and just general road debris. I’ve certainly ran over stuff. |

I purchased from Amazon and have had it installed for about two weeks. The only issue so far is that it lowers the Rubber air dam mount by 1.25". This allows it to scrap more often, which is fine as I rather this deflect than a rigid mounted object.
Question: Does anyone have any idea on the part number of this rubber piece? I am visiting the dealer this week for service and can ask, but am hoping someone more wise on the G80 might be able to point me in the right direction. No, the rubber air dam (not damn) is the unit that you relocate from your stock plate, as shown in the instructions.

Apologies for the typo and yes, I understand it is the dam. And the shop that did the install/swap threw it away. I did not realize until much later that it was not installed therefore, need to find the replacement part.

I have the turner skid plate, I bought it before my car was delivered.
I'm lowered and had one instance where I was going through a recently repaved portion of road. The manhole cover wasn't properly covered and it smacked my skid guard. It did its job and held up perfectly. Week later the city fixed that manhole

I really wish i got a skid plate and what hurts the most is that i told my self i was gonna and i forgot. This past friday i hit debris on 95 and the oil cooler was punctured. Good thing i caught it soon and immediately pulled over.
