In the market for a G8X but one question to most people selling...... why

Im seeing alot of G80/G82s for sale, Wondering why are most people selling at 9k -14k miles. Is it not fun anymore, lose interest easy in that car or its lack luster in the driving experiance?

This is not a unique to BMW G80/82. People move on for a variety of reasons.

They bought more car than they can afford.
Life changes occur - marriage, baby, health issues, job loss
They like the latest & greatest and hop to other brands to experience the difference.

There is a member on another forum that literally trades out every two to three months. It is comical to me but he seems to be ok with it.

Each story is going to be individual, moving on to something faster, family coming so moving on to something more practical, don't use enough, etc. I don't think anyone will tell you the cars are lack luster in the driving experience, but that's my (and most of the automotive world) opinion

Keep in mind a lot of cars are starting to come off of leases as well. Also while residuals were really high the past couple of years , people had the opportunity to sell their old car and jump into a new one at pretty much break even.

No idea about the situation in the US.
In China the performance car market starts to collapse as well, lots of M/RS/AMG on sale with hug price drop. Reason is simple, electric cars with the same acceleration cost about 1/5 of the price, horse power is no longer a selling point.

We're also coming up on the end of the first run of G8x leases, which will increase the number of used 2021s on the market. Based on my original lease, mine would have been in the hands of the dealership at the end of this week if I hadn't bought it out. Heck, it would still be possible to get me to trade it for the right replacement car if my sales human had inventory and tried a bit harder. :-)

Ignore. They don’t get it. These g80s in manual form are awesome. Have an e46 m3 also, and the g80 is a ton of fun, different but tons of fun.

Please show me how you see a lot of G80s. On CarGurus there is total of 200 cars and of which 90 are x-drive. In the entire country.
Come on dude. You are asking why 200 people in the entire country decide to switch vehicle.

Thanks for quantifying this. This is basically considered "noise" in the greater scheme of things.

Exactly. As of May of '23, BMW had produced in the ballpark of 56,000 G80/G82/G83 vehicles. The vast majority of those were sold to the greater European and NA markets.

How many are for sale right now? And how many more are happily in their owner's garage?

I would say most (85%)find out they can’t afford them anymore and are in over their head. I saw 19 of them alone for sale in California and all of them had car payments over $1100 a month and some as high as $1500 a month for lease take overs. Thats Lamborghini ranges for me. This is a $299 and under car payment vehicle. End of story. If you are paying more than that you’re living beyond your means.

If you get the car payment down to $299, why even have a car payment?
