Strut Brace Bolt Torque Setting

Asking for someone on another UK-based forum, as the guys in the US seem to know more of this type of technical info!

Anyone know the torque setting of this strut brace bolt?

To clarify, that is 1 of 4 M8 bolts that fasten the strut top to the body which is listed as 28NM (~20ft/lbs) and then 120 degrees of additional rotation.

Seems odd that there would be a spec torque and then a wrench arch torque. I would think its either one or the other.

I was curious also so I looked it up, here's a random r/askengeineers thread for some insight

That implies that there is an interference fit that needs to be overcome with tension from torque. I haven't pulled off the tower mount yet so I dont know.

Digging a little deeper into the image, thats a grade 10.9 bolt, which is capable of 48.3 NM (35.6 ft-lbs) trq. Its very likely that it can handle a 28 NM + 120 deg of rotation.

Everyone replacing those bolts when removing the strut?
I wonder if its possible to compress the spring with a compressing tool while the strut is still installed and then pull the strut out by undoing the nut on top of the strut, on rwd this is possible without compressing the springs but on xdrive models there's only a bit of room to pull out the whole strut.

I'm sure BMW wants you to. I loosened/tightened those or similar on M4 and X3M fronts and X3M rears. Did not replace. Very new vehicles.
