2024 ecu unlock issue!!

Has anyone here unlocked and tuned their 2024 G8X yet? I’ve been told that the live update function (although turned off in the head unit) does not turn off ECU updates this cancelling the tune and flashing the ECU back to stock.. I really want to unlock but I am hesitant because of this. thanks

Nonsense, no changes in 2024. Disable ota in the car and the app you are fine.

Do you know anyone with a tuned 2024 that has a femto unlocked ECU with a tune? Everyone seems to say this it no one can 100% confirm. Even messaged Femto and they replied they can’t answer just yet.

Who told you that?

The guy who tunes them here in Montreal. He actually trouble shoots for BMW Canada.

I guess it’s plausible if the 2024 ID8’s CAFD files are potentially cloud based and unable to be coded at the moment, nothing is preventing Bosch to do the same with the ECU parameters etc.

Not saying it is, just that it’s possible.

Hello,
I have a 2021 G82, and I recently installed a Remus gpf/opf delete. As a result the horrow show began( limp mode/ check engine light etc) My question is what options do I have as I’m guessing the ecu is still locked. If I go back to stock exhaust, will a simple diagnostic remove all the issues or am I doomed? Thanks .

What did Remus say when you talked to them? You are presumably not the first person to buy this system from them, so they must have dealt with this before.

When I ordered back in '22, I waited so long, they flipped my year from '22 to '23. I think it was about July the '23s starting shipping. I do not think anyone has had a 2024 long enough to even have experienced what you're worried about.

Bringing an old thread back, I have a ‘24 G82 and thinking about the ECU unlock. Curious if anyone can confirm the ‘24 G8X have this issue?

I searched for it and didn’t find anything on the forum nor google. Thanks!

I personally know 2024 owners with unlocked ECUs with no problems assuming you follow the steps of turning off updates. I plan to do the same this year.
