Given title of this thread here goes:
I have a long way to go before 1200 miles, so I am inventing reasons to drive. I am driving from chicago to st Charles today because my wife has decided maybe it is time to flee the city to the burbs. I used the back up assistant for the first time getting out of my garage into my alley. That is a slick feature that did better than I do at navigating my wife's car, the garage wall, and the dumpsters across the street. Once I figured out how to activate it, it was also shockingly easy to activate. I used the traffic jam assistant because the Kennedy to o'hare is a construction and therefore traffic mess. That, too, is slick. Unlike my wife's Tesla which requires you to nudge the steering wheel from time to time, the bmw basically just drives, as long as you stay below 40. Tesla auto drive is a bit less twitchy within your lane, but the bmw system seems to do a better job of accelerating and decelerating gently. I also gotta say I debated turning gesture control off when I drove off the dealer lot. It is growing on me. Volume up/down and skip right or left are pretty intuitive. Still might turn it off later as there are also, of course, buttons to accomplish the same task. I saw my first g82 competition in the wild - São Paulo yellow is wild! We said hi going 80 on i90. Lastly, I really need to get the thing on the track. I drove it yesterday on the north shore on the 2 roads closest to my house with good pavement and curves. To have any fun, I would end up in jail. The thing sticks to the pavement too well! Autobahn cc circa late September, here I come. |

I've found the preset buttons to work with a lot more things in this version of iDrive than before. I reconfigured the standard radio and nav presets I've been using to:
1. CarPlay (one less movement than pressing up on the wheel and then down to switch modes), plus I can just hit it with my finger when my hand is on the gear lever 2. Toggle HUD 3. Toggle iDrive display After two late night drives both the HUD and the iDrive display were annoyingly bright, even at lowest setting. Being able to quickly toggle them is a nice feature with the presets for me. I can hit all three of these without having to take my eyes off the road which is an added bonus |

Yea i ended up ordering it from colby but i didnt really glue it on or anything. The boot they sell is for the F80 so its not the greatest fit but i just ended up tucking it in and it worked out fine. Just waiting on the ssk man.

Front Air inlets
I seriously thought that the front air inlets would be one of the first things third party companies would replicate. I know its a pointless mod but i really just want a matte black pair. Not trying to pay over $2k for a bmw set.

Nice. If you change shift knob often that's the best option. SSK coming soon. Ronald just finished tooling for production

Wife actually loves the bolsters and snugness of the CF bucket seats. She wanted to get something to help with head support, so this happened. She has a thing for Thor btw:

Which shop did you go with? I'm having AutoPerfection do mine. They did an awesome job on my wife's X5 and they use CeremicPro as well.

Pricing wise it was $1k less than AP's gold package. And I think I'm at $2k with coating the interior and wheel barrels as well. I'll update after I receive the car on Friday. Then Saturday the MSS is going in.
