This car is only halfway complete when compared to a Porsche.

I'm loving when Chris opens up with less, less, except for the US it translates to more, more such as higher price due ADM dealership mark-up. Some ADM's of $50K!

The design goal was to create a light(er) weight M4 as a follow up to the two previous models that wore the badge. Converting a 4 series into a Porsche, or a true sports car, was never the objective.

F82 GTS tailgates looked better and appear more effective at signaling actual braking. The whisk is odd no doubt.

Chris Brow is a great presenter, but in this video mispronounced "alloy" and "nurburgring" (he said, Nur-Borg-ring).

No kidding? I know what the objective is. I'm just saying for the money the car just isn't unique enough physically nor performance wise. Plus I raise an eyebrow when BMW puts out these performance numbers say like on their CS models....With no tune I can consistently match or sometimes better the M5CS in out right straight line performance with my M8C spec with M carbon seats and brakes. Handling wise I'm sure the M5CS will edge out the M8C. When it comes to the M4CSL I strongly believe there should be more customer customization allowed/available for the money.

For me...
"2WD", all I need to know. I personally use the GTR platform as my "measuring stick". The S58 package comes with just about everything I enjoyed in my GTR, and more, except "the ease in tuning it and upgrading it" So for me the "must haves" on a car pushing ~500hp are: - AWD; I'd like to use the term "solid AWD" in this case. Not the Mickey Mouse AWD systems that some car makers claim are AWD and fail at the most basic tests. - AutoTransmission; either DCT or Auto. Those brave souls that think they can handle ~500hp with one hand... Good for them. Not so much "must haves": - Comfortable seating for 4 or 5 - User friendly trany: quite and responsive (not available in a GTR) - Good exhaust sound: This was not an issue ever coming from STIs and GTRs. And I never thought that you could not never fix (grammar going to hell) a bad sounding exhaust until I met the S58. But I digress... The CSL is what I call a manufacturer's bragging rights poster child. Nice to see and admire, but many of us will not find it practical nor a smart buy given its sticker price, potential mark ups, and less expensive siblings.

The weight of an F-series HUD display is a 139 pounds. Comfort Access aerials weigh 1.2 pounds. Wireless charging pads weigh about 1 pound. But the HUD being in the car is a big one and very very strange to me. |

This CSL is really a tune and decal package. It's not a special suspension, motor or body. Call me old school I guess.
Not comparing to Porsche but when the GT4 RS was revealed to the public…my lord they swapped in a coveted motor with custom harmonious tonality…I mean that alone is SPECIAL! Then they revised the suspension, the transmission/gearing, aero…that to me is considered …………..a special car. |

Ppl try so hard to compare it to Porsche GT cars but at the end of the day it's just a BMW that is a bit more track ready in its line-up, nothing more. It's not a sports car, not a supercar, just a factory modded M4.

Losing the back seats is as much about optimizing suspension tuning as it is about removing the weight. Same reason why Porsche didn't add seats for the GT3 touring and why BMW removed the rear centre seat on the M5 CS.
The spring rates and shock tuning need to accommodate a car being fully loaded. There's a big difference between engineering a car to have 2 vs 4 occupants. |

Good point. The weight you cite is shocking.
