Huge Dilemma! What would you do?
Sup fellas!
What would you do if you were number 9 on an a wait list for a 22/23 M3CX allocation and suddenly got an opportunity to take over someones build which happens to be on a boat just 2 weeks from port and another week or so from the dealership @ MSRP (Thanks dude! and thanks to Bimmerpost for having such an amazing community) The Dilemma - No Carbon Roof, No laser Lights, Not my fav wheel choice Would you wait approx 8-12 months for your build and delivery or take delivery on end of February. I can probably live without the carbon roof but while some might think its stupid, Not having the laser lights bothers me lol - I can pay the invoice the dealer emailed me right now and the car is mine. |

Ive said this in an earlier thread. The problem is the laser lights are much more than "function" ( which btw you can easily code to EU specs so invalid argument) , they make or break the car visually big time. The droopy base headlights just cheapen the front end and this cannot be argued. It'll also affect the resale value 1000%. Of course it'll be nice to have the car now and receive that instant gratification, however as we all know that emotion is short lived. Better to get what you want and how you want it without the regret later. |

I would wait and get something I really want. If I didn't do that I would always regret not getting exactly what I wanted. Then I would end up trading it in and losing even more money. The 2 things you mention aren't even small like brake calipers or m traction control. The lights and carbon roof make or break the car for a lot of people.

I can live with the sunroof. The headlights to me is a complete deal breaker. However that's just opinion. I'm not a huge of the blue inserts. But the day time running lights just look so much better with it. It's ridiculous that's even an option to me.

If I was in your position I think I would take it. #9 sounds like a long ass time to me. The list *could* go by quickly as people cancel and production ramps up, but who knows. Sunroof and wheels I could go either way. No laser lights is a bummer but I'd give up 9 months to a year wait time for that.
If it was a boring (to me) build like black on black, white on black, or pretty much any black interior would be the show stopper for me. |

When paying this much, getting what you really want is a must. Also, no carbon roof?? What are we, living in the 90s??

If he'd never considered laser lights then fair enough, carbon roof doesn't have the same impact although I'd always want it considering the cars purpose. I doubt anyone would dismiss the advantages of laser lights both in looks and resale value given the choice. He has a choice and he'll regret not getting them once the dust has settled.

Tough call for sure, but have you considered a middle ground approach?
You could pull the trigger now and also stay on the list at #9, intending to trade in the current one for a new one when the time finally does come. That would cost a little $ for sure, but the way the market is going it might not be too bad. You could audition the car and various options, and end up with the LCI as well.

Lol. Not having laser lights is a sin and those member should be banned from this forum. In all seriousness, it's $1k on a $75k+ car, seems like a no brainer. The base lights don't look that terrible, but side-by-side, it's an obvious choice. |

Solid advice. Would likely take a $ hit on resale, but with todays market could possibly breakeven... |
