Maybe you're right, maybe not - only time will tell. But not every kid likes EVs, mine would both rather have ICE than EV and would only buy an EV if there was no other choice. Also, we can't just dump millions of cars, so it'll take a while for EV to become the revolution you're suggesting IMHO.

The whole exclusivity of the " M " club is now a joke . People buying " M light " cars and tarting them up to look like a real M . Just seen what I thought was an f80 M4 Cs for sale ...clearly I could see it was just an M4 to look like an Cs . Cheap !
Bmw should issue a special holographic sticker with serial number placed on the rear window to individualise M cars now . A true M owners club. What do you all think ? 🤔

This thread has gone off the rails.

While you guys were off track I set my position as #1 in line for an M4CS at my local dealer.

PS: I LOVE my 2023 M4CX!

As a driver and owner, i very well know that I am driving a M car. I don't need any extra stickers or badges on the outside to tell others.

If I am in the market to buy one, I can always do the due diligence with a simple VIN search.

i don't really agree with that statement... and I wouldn't blame the confused owners for that either...

this is strictly BMWs fault... the M brand was diluted and now we get diluted cars as we discussed... if they themselves are confused about what M is, i am not shocked everyone else is. Sticking M badges on everything translates down to the consumer.

Keeping the M sport packs to the regular cars without offering limited slip diffs and offering bespoke transmissions to the upper end cars would have made it more special... we are no longer there. Every engine is a base of another engine, its mated to the same tranny and virtually identical interior components. The M cars are better... the Masses can no longer tell the difference and its squarely bmws fault.

I have an X3 M40i because its the only way to get the most powerful 6 cylinder is a non M BMW... but this car has NOTHING do with an M car lol.

Congratulations!
I loved my Acura and Accord too! The other car I loved was my E90, and now my 2 series (F87C). Great cars.

Could be but is that because supply is artificially limited? If BMW made as many as people would buy I'm not sure which would sell more.

The masses could never tell the difference. You were lucky if they saw the badge on the back and knew what that meant. For many of us that was part of the charm, the masses just thought it was another BMW. You can't blend as easily with Corvette or Porsche.

I mean you do you but for me, I just dropped my buddy off at the airport. I had plenty of fun on the way there and back. I don't believe I would have any more fun there and back had the car been visually more exclusive in some way. I could remove the badges on my cars. Wouldn't change the character of the car or how much fun I have.

the masses rarely noticed m cars in the past because they were never marketed hard pre G generation... they were also way rarer... so most people never even saw M cars on the streets... the moment the marketing started pumping out m sport cars and you got the m340i and others... it become obvious that M meant something just no one really knew what... and now the M340i sits under the m section of the website, it never did before... so unless you have a 320i, supposedly you have an M car lol.

the folks that threw fake badges on their m cars in their past at least knew it was a sportier car as you never saw m badges on x5's... its changed quite a bit lol

BMW is making money on the M brand. I don’t like the dilution but it’s really smart financially. If all those dollars goes into making more
pure M cars for me to drive, i’m all
for it. Good for them. Sans the hardcore fan base, no one knows what the hell i am driving. All they know is what they see on the outside. I have an X4 M40i. It’s ok but it’s not really fast and handles like shit. Looks cool though and looks cool moves the metal.

True statement. Unless you keep driving old cars and fixing them, you are not going to be left with much choice

There's a difference between "I don't like EVs" and "I will never drive EVs". The first is a personal preference, and we all have the right to have one. The second is narrow mindedness.

I am going down to dealer and making deposit and reserving why everyone argues.
I grew up getting my license in 1985 after the endless drought of the 70s that only saw bandit 1977 TAs with 200 hp.
This is the time of stupid cars for car guys. Enjoy them all regardless. Heck the number of eleven second or lower cars with airbags and full AC and rocking stereos vs my youth.
Time of milk and honey folks stop complaining
