3" Downpipes vs 4"
Hey guys. I’m not a sound engineer by any shot or understand the concepts of it.
Last year i had a g80 m3 comp and i ran SSR dps which i think are 3”. I can’t find the info on it anymore. Yesteday i bought Project Gamma 4” dps, so does bigger mean deeper noise? Would it even be noticeable or what am i to expect? Any guys w experience on this? Lmk !

Unless you have 4" exhaust you will gain nothing from this as you are going from the DP's back into the factory diameter pipes. Assuming your current DP's are catless there will be no notable sound different either.
Stock size twin turbo cars typically do not see any any improvement in performance above 3.5" diameter pipes. Now if you have a big single turbo platform, or significantly higher flowing aftermarket twins, that is where larger pipes will see large gains. |

The larger the downpipe, the deeper the exhaust sound, in theory.
In reality, no difference after 3.5" Power-wise, it's the same since every downpipe connection needs to be reduced to fit the stock turbo and exhaust.

We offer both 3 inch and the 3.5 inch and as far as I know we are the only company to offer such a large downpipe. No way a 4 inch will fit . To answer your question about the larger diameter you will see quicker spool times, slightly deeper sound and more hp but, you will need to be making enough power to take advantage of the larger size.
3.5'' You can see all of our G8x Downpipe offerings below. MAD. 3.5'' fat boy downpipes. - https://mad-us.com/mad-bmw-g8x-s58-3...wnpipes-m3-m4/ MAD 3''. Is Project Gamma Dps not 4” then? I have no idea I’m new to all this, i saw that you guys offer 3.5” and that seems huge as is. Hmm, have you guys seen their downpipes size specifications? I will look into it again and see what I find. Lmk!

Oh wow. I’m not sure why it says 4” construction on their website. I wanted bigger downpipes, most definitely returning and going with your 3.5 then. Why would they advertise that so strange.

I can't speak for them but all I can guess is a typo error? 4 inch pipe is massive that's larger than our midpipes for comparison.
