Lighter and 6MT available....
I like the direction the G80 is going. “The latest M3 should also be lighter and more agile than the previous-generation model thanks to the adoption of BMW’s new CLAR platform. BMW’s M division chief, Carsten Piers, told Auto Express: “We are aware there is a large fanbase for M cars around the world and we will do all we can to excite them and everything we can do not to disappoint them.” |

How long for G80 concept to linger around, at least a year. Just like the M8 GC concept was over a year ago and the 8 series GC hasn't been released yet. Don't get your hopes up, as there is around 4 month wait when the production model is released to market. Concepts are always over a year to market release. Market release won't occur until after the F83 EOP 10/2020, other would cannibalize sales.

This is why I hate trusting these reports... auto express says the styling will be evolutionary not revolutionary... SCOTT26 has made it clear that the styling will in fact be revolutionary and share the face of the 4 series which will be totally different than the 3 series. Someone is way off! due to track record I am inclined to trust SCOTT26

Good point. But the M3/M4 are big sellers in the performance car class. I don't see BMW letting Benz get all of the sales for too long. I would imagine, based on the EOP of the F82 in early 2020 that we will see the G80 and G82 in late 2020. Just in time for my lease end in late 2020....unless I go into an F90 m5 or X6M before then.

Excited? Yes, it will be a great car and continued evolution. Possibly the best daily driver in 4 door format.
Points of possible disappointment: No more DCT No more pull analog handbrake Visual appeal size and styling TBD Lack of ability to custom order options separately vs in a package ie couldn't get full leather but no sun shades on F80 |

my comment was more for those who read the entire linked autoexpress article, I am not challenging the debut timeline but instead the commentary around the styling.. in general when i read these i trust what aligns with our resident insiders and question/dismiss what doesnt.
