M4 Competition Convertible vs Mercedes C63 S Convertible
I am selling my 2017 911 S and looking at the new M4 convertible. Another option I am looking at is the C63 S convertible. I love the 911, but I’ve only driven it 8,200 miles in almost four years, mostly because of the ride quality and some difficulty entering and exiting the car because of a bad lower back. I am looking for a sporty convertible with good performance that is a notch or two above the standard versions offered.
Obviously since the G83 M4 convertible is not out yet, a direct comparison isn't possible yet. However, I expect the upcoming G83 ride and performance to be similar to the outgoing F83. For those of you that have driven or are familiar with the C63 S, how would you compare it to the equivalent F8x M3/M4? Any input would be appreciated. |

Significantly increases in wheelbase, weight and likely progress in suspension technology should give a calmer ride than the F8X. My F80 is not a vert. And it’s on passive suspension. It’s a much sportier ride than non M cars and even the E90 M3. It actually feel stiffer than the 992 C4 I recently drove. I like it like that and deliberately selected the configuration for max direct/connected feel to but it doesn’t suit someone looking for a calm and soothing ride. The G8X should be quite different taken the parameters already mentioned and it’s worth waiting for proper reviews of the production cars before you estimate if it’s for you.

Nobody drove the new M4 yet, so it's impossible to compare it to the C63s.
I doubt either have a much better ride or easier access seats (especially when optioning the carbon bucket seats on the M4) than the 911, but I have to admit I never drove a 911. |
