Definitely a strong argument. On this topic, is the E63 Estate also successful for MB?
Wildly, mainly because they don't send that many here, and they all sell. BMW has the wherewithal to do the same. We're just waiting for them…
Yet it was canceled halfway through MY21.
Yes. Because of the chip shortage. How does that factor in here?

Didn't MB cancel a bunch of other V8 models as well?
Yes, they stopped sending them here because they knew they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand due to the chip shortage.

I'll reiterate:
Performance wagons don't make companies tons of money. They continue to be insanely popular with enthusiasts though. The CTS-V wagon sold well beyond what they envisioned, the Polestar wagon when it first came here sold out before any of them even physically touched our shores. MB sells all of their E63 wagons here, year in and year out. The RS6 Avant did the same. Look at the M4 GTS. Folks loved that car. Did it's sales really keep the lights on in Munich though? Of course not. But it didn't matter, the demand was there, and it was a small enough run that it made sense, particularly to cater to enthusiasts, which is something BMW has been good at for many years. An M3 wagon, in small numbers, would do just fine here, and it's a segment where BMW could really shine, and bring a ton of goodwill to it's core audience.

If you wanted to drive a sportscar, why did you chose an AWD automatic transmission version?

Just playing devil’s advocate here.
What? So enthusiasts shouldn't buy 911 Turbo S? Or Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc? :

The Mods changed my original post by adding the G83 teaser line at the end 🤣

50 years of M. Pretty sure the US represents a lucrative market for BMW in this segment and they can't make the touring happen here in the US? I don't want to hear rational arguments about costs to federalize, cannibalizing X sales, no market for it. You can't get an RS6 without significant markup. The E63 is a bit of a laugh for MB but it commands a premium for good reason and brings people to the brand. Bring this product to those who helped make the M brand successful- let's go already. BMWNA needs to wake up.

My oh my this car is incredible looking. And I am sure the dynamics will be as good as they get for an estate/wagon/touring. I'd certainly be interested if it comes to the US.

actually, I hope they don't bring it to the States. I just leased an M240. If they do, I'm killing myself.

DO YOU HEAR THAT BMW?!? WE DON'T WANT THIS CAR OVER HERE!

X3M, X5M…those I understand and actually like.
An ///M station wagon…NOPE!
But to each his own…

No disrespect here to those who like it, just not my cup of tea.
I really don't see the point of the X3M and X5M you take a car platform raise it up so it can offroad better then lower it to make it handle better? It has a really high center of gravity and a lot of weight so it just make no sense as an M car.

On the other hand you can have a wagon which have a very slight weight penality over the sedan and keep the center of gravity much lower than a crossover. You gain praticality that sound like the best of both world to me.

The guys who don't 'get the wagon' are probably at a different stage of life. I think guys with kids and dogs etc who have a need to bring kids to sports and luggage on vacations and need roof racks 'get it'

You get to drive a super fast wagon with the M3 pedigree but it has just enough practicality to keep the wife off your back.

A lot of this can be done in an X5M but they will never be as cool as a wagon!

If you've ever been up to the ski resorts in Europe, everyone drives fast wagons, far more than SUVs. It's definitely a European thing!

De-badge the M3 wagon for the win!

I love seeing a Dad driving his kids around in a De-badged RS6. Super cool and under the radar. Those who know, know!

Yeah, who's asleep at the wheel there? They were able to get the E60 M5 manual here when they didn't even offer it in Europe, but they ain't brining the first m3 wagon here?? With RS6 and E63 sold out, BMWNA needs to read the room. Bring this thing over here.

Sebastian Mackensen is the new CEO of BMWNA as of Sep 2021. Would imagine that he may be playing it safe given he's new to the role (but very experienced)- unfortunate. Don't know inner workings but would imagine he's the gatekeeper. More than ever, brand loyalty is imperative given the need for people to eventually adapt to these new electrics and hybrid product lines. I'm convinced this car would cement many folks' view and loyalty to the brand by "giving the people what they want".

BMW will spare you from the conundrum of buying something you despise, it won't get a manual.
