Just installed new front brake ducting by speed engineering in Germany.

Tracking Tuesday with Cobalt friction pads recommended by Boomer 2019

Install took about 2 hours including my pad swap. 3d printed ducting mates to the intake scoop, and converts to 2.5" round to handle the silicone ducting. Then attached to their hun plate made from what seems like 040 sheet aluminum. Inlet hits right at the hub.

They claim 70c rotor temp improvement.

Looks fantastic. You did ziptie the tubing to the lower control arm correct?

No I used one large zip tie against the frame behind the plastic fender liner. I was concerned about having enough movement for lock to lock.

I would do 2 on the lower wishbone to not allow it to drape when turning the wheel inboard. Really have to secure those bad boys or you will have a really bad day.

Ill check it when underneath. It doesn't sag but rather retracts against the inside of the fender. But I see your point.

The 3d printed duct is a little brittle. I broke a tab and had to plastic weld it back together, but otherwise ok.

These worked really well yesterday on track. No issues, and brakes performed well. No Smoking and no brake smell, even in the hot pits right off hot laps.

is there a mesh inside the duct? would be concerned about debris flying into the brake ducts.

no it's just a 3d printed plastic cone that connects to the OEM duct in the front bumper

Would this mod make sense on a daily? I might attend a track day 1-3 a year.

not sure. only put 2700 miles on mine since i picked it up last january. one could easily put a mesh liner at the end of the cone and then put the hose and clamp over the mesh to hold
or in place. but unclear if that would defeat the purpose, if the mesh was too restrictive. tracking 1-3 times per year i would just try the removing the stock covers and see if you are having brake heat issues.

where i track in the summer it's > 90F and i have had multiple heat issues, engine and brakes, so now i just limit it to 6-8 laps per session on top of the using this brake duct system

Heat issues even with ducts, dang. Are you also running their rear brake cooling?

yea, in general, a car this heavy with this much power, pushing cup2s to max, plus i am amateur driver, few times it was 98F - 103F mid-day, so the track was 140F+ .. colorado bluebird day (not a cloud in the sky), sun melting external GPS and gopros suction cupped to windshield, etc.

but generally staying under 8 laps + 1 cool down lap per session things are fine. all in all tho, never experience brake fade.

i don't have any cooling on rear, nor do i have any real significant rear wear. not sure what i am going different, but ppl seem to always have excessive rear wear.

ppl also experiencing driving assistance systems coming on, etc. i have been on busy track, gone off track, never experience windows up, safety stuff, i have all the driving assistance packages, etc.

Your car doesn't care as much about you.
