I do not live there but I have a friend there I visit. Lets get through this weather and set up some cruises

Since I also have frozen paint, I don’t trust any of the hand car washes washing my car. I either go to a self wash in Chicago or haul it to the bays in Romeoville. Actually plan on going to Romeoville tomorrow to wash the car.

Hey guys,

I placed an order on Saturday for a G80 M3 and I optioned it with the CF bucket seats without even having seen them in person. I am having second thoughts about them, thinking they might not be practical.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone here has the seats and is willing to meet up with me so I can look at them in real life and maybe sit in them. I understand this might be too much to ask, but none of the BMW dealerships have any in stock.

I will buy you lunch if you are willing to meet up with me.

Thank you in advance!

I don't think you will regret them but personally, I don't think they are necessary, contrary to what every car reviewer on youtube has said. I have regular seats in mine but I have sat in the carbon buckets and was not as blown away as everyone else. I'd say they are worth it only if you plan on taking the car to HPDE. But for daily driving, I prefer my regular seats. Getting in and out of them is definitely something that will take time getting used to. Once you are in, they are comfy enough, but to me, that hump is too obnoxious and not worth the hassle.

I think the main reason everyone raves about them is because they make the interior look more special. Those seats do look like they've been ripped straight out of an exotic type of car, so when you consider the fact that the interior of the G80 looks more or less identical to the regular non-m bmw, getting those seats for the looks alone may be worth it for some people.

I think you'll be fine, just start doing some yoga exercises now so that you'll be limber enough to get over that hump.

Thanks for the response. I figured as much. I have Cobra XL bucket seats in my AutoX and HDPE car and getting in and out of them is a complete circus act. I just need to compare the BMW CF seats with my race seats to see how bad things are going to be.

We (Patrick BMW) have an M4 with bucket seats in the showroom.

They’re comfortable seats, getting in and out is just a little weird.

I’ve gone to both, first the Wheeling location and then Romeoville. Without a doubt the Romeoville location is far superior over Wheeling. First the lighting in Romeoville is excellent. The ceiling is lower therefore the lights on the ceiling do a better job. Romeoville has 3 distinct bays for washing and vacuuming the car while Wheeling only has 2 bays that can be used for washing. They have a separate area for vacuuming. Unless you live next door to the Wheeling location, I don’t think I would go back due to Romeoville being far superior.

Hey, I have the carbon buckets in my car and I absolutely love them. I wouldn’t get a g8x without them. They are extremely comfortable and I’ve done several road trips (25k miles and got my car in May). I am doing a car cruise on Sunday and we are meeting up in Woodridge at 10:30. You can join me at the meet up to sit in the seats if you’d like.

I just played around with Google map departure times, and appears the best time to leave River North for Romeoville is at or before 10:30a on Sunday. 35-55 min drive w a 40 min weighted avg. Would love to find something closer, but is what it is!

As of right now the Romeoville location is closed on Sundays. I was there on Saturday and it typically takes me about 35 minutes to get there and that was leaving in the afternoon. But let me know if you find something closer that you like.

Are any of you Chicagoland owners interested in starting a whatsapp group for Chicagoland G8X owners? I know the Boston owners have something similar, figured it might be cool to do. Can set up meets, cruises, etc

That's a good idea. I am down. I like the idea of organizing impromptu cruises for those summer days when the weather is nice. Or even for the track days.
