Those reviews are definitely all over the place…
Nothing from Chris Harris or Randy Pobst yet?
Need some track reviews!
Got my EVO today (think there's been an issue with the post).

Anyway, the magazine description of the car is a LOT better. They even describe a short track session.

I think the car needs to be tested with the proper buckets and the Cup 2R tyres it was developed on. It also needs a spanking on track to get a true sense of its capabilities.

Personally, I think in the correct spec, it will be an awesome bit of kit. That's maybe why when Autocar tested it (on Cup 2R) they thought it was awesome.

In any case it will be interesting to read the reviews of the car in the right spec.
I think EVO eventually moves this a 4.5 star car in the right spec. I think putting it on Cup2 connects is the right move for buyers.

Scully - did you notice in the EVO review that the stated weight reductions add up to a bit more than 100Kg - think it works out as 118.3Kg.

I think my math checks out - this is what they said:

-21Kg rear seat delete
-24Kg fixed bucket seats
-15Kg sound insulation deduction (including lighter material where it does exist)
-21Kg lighter damper struts, coil springs and wheels
-11Kg carbon trunk and hood
-4Kg titanium silencer
-4kg lighter kidney grille, no rear floor mats
-4kg carbon centre console
-14.3kg carbon ceramic brakes

Provided they got their figures right, your math is spot on

I do note, however, they missed 400 grams saved on the rear laser lights. There's also no mention of lighter glass usually used in all CS (and presumably CSL) models.

That could potentially raise it to closer to 120kg

Good point! So that means that either they have underplayed the weight loss OR, the things that they have changed such as the helper springs, front strut brace etc. in have added c.20kg (which seems like a lot).

Yeah, I thought that too. I do recall, in his exit interview, Marcus Flash, former M-Division CEO, hinted at "minimum" saving of 100kg

It might be a little more, but 20kg more!?

I wonder if anyone will dyno their car to find out exact figures

Yeah would be interesting to get a definitive result.

In the meantime, while we wait for dyno results, enjoy this

Notice, in Jason's (and my) opinion, "today's greatest straight 6, is made by BMW"

How fast is that! - Looked like a lot of fun!

Have to say I remember that Marcus Flasch interview and that made me think that the car would be more than 100kg lighter perhaps as much as 150kg lighter - so when it came in at exactly 100kg, I was a bit disappointed (not gonna lie). It it works out that it's actually 120kg lighter, that's great!

I wish they had stuck a 6mt in it which would have saved another 15 or 20kg

This is strange to me. I believe a few people on this forum have received cars, maybe in Europe. Why is it they have offered nothing of substance on what they think of the car?

Have I just missed the posts?

Yeah someone just needs to take their car and weigh it with 1/2 tank of gas at this point, and we can more accurately deduce what the car weighs.

Also need to account for the fact that ceramic brakes and buckets (albeit not the hardcore version) are available for Comp's.

I'd say it could be a combination of reasons

1) not many will have reached the break-in service yet to provide any meaningful commentary

2) it's autumn and roads are wet or even iced on occasion; not as safe to do the hard driving you'd like to see

3) price of fuel (to a lesser degree)

4) production delays

5) many may have purchased as an investment

Etc

yes but the thing about BMW Collector is that he seems to be - from his videos at least - not a pretty good driver (in particular, the CSL vs GT3 or CSL vs GTS drive was pretty awful/slow driving).... looking forward seeing the CSL moved by someone who actually knows what he does

Well I won't get mine until March '23. And even if he's not a driving God (neither am I by the way) his views on how easy it is to drive, comfort, noise and how it makes him feel are all valid.
