G82 M4 xDrive Track Build
As a follow on from my thread about tracking the standard M4 xDrive, I thought you might be interested in my track build.
Now completely stripped, roll cage installed, interior painted and now ready to start re-installing bits |

It's a Schirmer car , expect NITRON suspension, AP Racing brakes along with E88s as standard equipment.

Further, if you have and the issue is still present, you can swap rotors to traditional steel and keep the heavy duty calipers that you've already paid for - just a pad material swap to correspond with the steels would be needed. Best of luck.

This is the million dollar question - other threads have noted the OEM rear brakes being a major let down on G8x… (edit: not just visually - can't handle track duty)

Backwards being a general statement - with a heavier car carrying more speed and therefore momentum in every manner - I'd expect the same exact brake package to give up earlier. Now, we know that the brakes from F to G generation aren't anywhere near the same - certainly in the rear. But, I did think the front calipers on the G8x were supposed to be uprated 6 piston parts, a heavier duty piece than the OEM F8x with steel fronts - maybe I'm just recalling bad info. Anyone know if that's incorrect?

Before I get roasted, I have a F80 CS that I track 4-6 weekends a year at my local track (COTA) - for me, a M3 is my DD, kid hauler, and track toy with a few minor mods. If the G8x can do that better than F8x, great - let's do it. |
