The power delivery is smooth, the reason this dyno looks more choppy than what you see online is because other places use smoothing to make it look better (smoothing is an actual option on the dyno software)

The numbers are whp, the reason why its lower is because this is a mustang dyno not a dynojet

-We decided to wire the Bluetooth from the door instead of the firewall, it's easier to install and uninstall, it's also almost completely hidden.
-Im pleasantly surprised by how smooth map 1 is. Lots of power without any traction problems (RWD).

We installed the axle back version only, without the resonator delete. This is the most conservative setup offered by AWE-Tuning. It keeps the primary cats in the downpipes, the secondary cats in the midpipe, and one resonator.

It's got a charming exhaust note, but it's too quiet if everything else is stock. We recommend this setup with catless or high-flow catted downpipes or for customers who did a secondary cat bypass.

Next week, we will install the resonator delete, expecting this to open up the sound. We will post a second video once the resonator delete is on.

I changed the boost by gear reduction settings, and it's a night and day difference!

Im running 25 PSI of boost.

I have selected 3 PSI for the 1st and 2nd gear. And 2 PSI for 3rd gear.
It's a very conservative setting considering I have the Toyo R888R.

I can easily do 3 PSI for 1st gear, 2 PSI for second gear, and no reduction for third gear.

If I have time in the future, I will be testing the different gears and see how aggressive I can make it.
But for now, I'm thrilled with the results. The car now launches instantaneously without any traction issues, and I can use the MDM setting again (at one point, the TQ was so much that MDM was useless on lower gears).


To make the changes, go to the JB4 app, settings, advanced, user adjustment settings, and scroll down to boost drop 1st, 2nd and third.

Your settings will depend on your tires and the map you are running; the more aggressive the map, the more you should drop the boost on lower gears.

For optimal settings, Start with the first gear and do a few pulls.
Keep increasing the boost drop number until you have enough traction. Do the same for the second and third gear.

XHP Transmission Tune

I reached out to XHP asking if they are looking for vendors, but they said no. I still wanted to try their product, so I paid the full retail price for it. It's a shame they refuse to work with vendors as the XHP transmission can be frustrating, not much info is available online, and they are not located in the US to answer customers' questions.

I went to their website; they offer the flash license and the map package. It's $192.99 each.

Upon reading it, I got the impression that the flash license allows customization, and the map pack enables you to use the off-the-shelf maps.
I got the map pack because I wanted to try their tested maps.

I got the activation code right away and entered it in the app. I tried flashing the car, but it told me I needed the license to use the map pack.


I found that odd since most customers want to use off-the-shelf maps and not mess with the transmission themselves. This should be the starter option, and the customization should be optional, not the other way around.

Anyways, since I had no choice, I placed the order for the license and went back to flash the car. The flash failed as I had gotten the 8 Speed license; I should have selected the 8 Speed G series (somehow, I missed it )

I emailed them asking to cancel the license; the good news is that they responded fast, but the bad news is that they are not in the US; due to the time difference, it's going to take at least a day to get a response.

They canceled my license and purchased a new one. I tried flashing the car, and it failed again. The Kies adapter I'm using is incompatible with flashing the vehicle. It took me 30-45 minutes to figure that out.

I purchased the XHP adapter from Burger Tuning and tried to flash the car again. I was too lazy to put the vehicle in airplane mode as recommended, and I got a call during the flash, which caused the flash to fail. All I had to do was start a new flash; no harm was done.

The process took 1-2 weeks, between my first purchase and when the flash was complete.

Now the results (stage 3 map)
From all the Youtube reviews I saw, they were saying what a huge difference it makes. I was excited, but since Im not a big fan of DCT, I was worried it would be too aggressive and jerky.

I did not feel a huge difference; it's a bit better but nowhere near what I expected from Youtube reactions. The good news is that even on stage 3, it's still a smooth drive.

Whether it's worth it or not is a personal preference depending on budget and expectations. I am happy with it, but I wish the customization license were not mandatory. That would have saved me $200

Great Review Mike! So in terms of performance, were you able to see any gain on jb4 e30+ map with xhp flash? Is it worth the "risk"if any?

Interesting.

That would explain why they dont show (or claim) actual improvements number in the quarter mile or 60-100 etc. with their flash or at least give a real life demonstration what a user would expect.

Don't they get soaked and clogged?
No. They have been used for years on the F chassis M models with no issues. You can also take your car to the car wash, and nothing will happen to the intakes.

We recommend removing the bumper for easier installation. You can install the intake without removing the bumper, but it'll take longer and be more frustrating.
