true...I mean when I was 12 yrs old I saw an E36 and my head was blown away. First time where I fell in love with BMW M, guess what made me dream and finally purchase an M...ok not the E36, but the G80.
Still would love to have someday an E46, which is nearly impossible to find in good conditions without selling your kidneys and first born child.

I don't want one and my main gripe is I think BMW could have done better but I have respect for it, it's a great looking car. I'm happy people are buying it.

I agree with you, it's not a classic look in my eyes. But I pulled into a BMW dealer this weekend to check out an M5 CS I was thinking of buying. A bunch of kids ran over the check out the CSL and asked why it was here and I said I was here to check out an M5 CS. They were like "why would you want an ugly car like that when you have this."

As Chris Harris said, BMW is on to something with the younger generation.
An M5 CS? How many BMW’s do you need?

Currently driving an X3MC as a daily and have an M4 CSL coming soon.
I sure hope they do not drive exactly the same!
Will let you know…

I've been wearing Merrell shoes, almost exclusively, since 1999. They're comfortable, practical, and support my feet very well.

I'm sure there are other brands that might be better. However, I'm not interested in looking, or experimenting, for another brand just in case I have to endure any discomfort.

BMW, for me, is like Merrell shoes; I know what it does, and what it doesn't. I'm happy with what it does, and don't care much about what it doesn't, even though there are other brands that are supposed to be tons more ... (place appropriate word here).

I'm happy with my BMWs just as they are.

It's already a classic. And better looking than anything before it. Even the rear.
This is by far, the single most detached-from-reality comment that I have ever read on Bimmerpost, ever.

I know!! It's so hard to fathom. It's been so difficult not chasing crank hubs, and fuel pumps/ injectors, in the past 10,400 miles. That just makes the front end look even better.

Plus, they finally did it right, its AWD. I'll admit, I used to drool over the F82, it's a good looking car, but, I couldn't decide between the two.

It's just like a good looking girl, she's a lot less attractive, when shes crazy. F82, its alot less bad ass to me, when stock, it's one of the slowest cars in its class.

I feel like there's 2 types of reviews on the CSL.....those that talk about coffee cup holders and those that don't. Generally this guys reviews are really engaging but anyone buying a limited edition track weapon probably isn't buying it on the strength of its cup holders. I like coffee as much as the next person, but one guarantee is that people bringing coffee into your car will result in coffee all over your car.....

The ridiculousness about this is, the 991 911 and 718 cupholders that supposedly everyone loves aren't as great as people think (it will keep the bottle or cup held tight but the liquid can slosh around and fly out). And they made their cupholders even worse in the 992.

But yeah the CS cars have hood cupholders and here you need to bring a Zojirushi bullet with you or thermos. Small problem.

I mean long term I wouldn't keep both an M5 CS and an M4 CSL. I still need to drive and sit in an M5 CS again and see if I can get along with those seats.

The seats in both the M2 CS and the carbon buckets in the M4 CSL work fine for me.

Exactly! Who cares about drinking coffee so much, while you're driving the CSL. Drink it before you get in and enjoy the car. I never had an issue with this or the arm rest. There's still door storage for a thermos or a bottle of water if you want to.

Funny story is some reviews are like why didn't you remove the door cards.

The simplicity and the elegance of E46 is absolutely mindblowing. Looking at the overall design you can not stop to admire the real talent of the deigners of that time. So far none of the CSL managed to bring that dramatic change that that car brought at the time.

Timeless.

Sounds like you are evoking the dramatic change the E46 brought over the E36. The design changes of the E46 CSL to the E46 M3 were not that dramatic. The G82 CSL visual design changes versus the G82 M4 are similar and possibly more extensive. The E46 is a timeless design, and in many ways more visually appealing than the G82 but the incremental changes to each CSL over their respective base is at the very least comparable.

If anyone was to get into mine with a cup of anything, it will be the last time they will ever sit in that car
