Donington vs Skyscraper Grey

My old X3M in Donington Grey vs new M3 in Skyscraper

sorry for poor quality photo of interiors but X3M was locked and wanted to get similar lighting shot to show difference. Fiona red is a brighter truer red vs Sakhir orange but they are still similar.

The greys surprised me as apart they don't look much different but next to each other you can see the difference clearly.

The orbit grey 825M are *perfect* for this color.

I was so worried when ordering the wheels, probably looked at 200 photos trying to make up my mind. Having bi color on the X3M I wanted something different and thought the orbit grey would suit this combo well. So glad I picked it and love the wheel style (much more than my X3 wheels) plus it makes the red calipers pop more.

Gotta say it is taking time getting used to the lower driving position again (2 SUV household for last 3 years). "Feels" quicker and more agile than my X3M after a 20 mile drive.

No regrets on the trade

Donington Grey + red leather interior = it rarely gets better than this combination. Thanks for sharing!

Love it, I made the exact same switch. Donnington X3M to Skyscraper M3 with Fiona interior.
I have to say the M3 is so much better than the X3M.

Skyscraper is a really beautiful silver/gray--very "liquid" looking...

This is a cool comparison of the colors on a nice cloudy day. But I will never give up my X3 MC. Only add to it.

I ordered the same M3 comp color / wheel combo (orbit grey 825M ) / red calipers. I'm glad to see more pictures of this configuration.
I chose the black interior but can still change it as I didn't get my allocation yet. The red interior looks very nice with Skyscraper.
Congrat !

Porsche GT Silver is my absolute perfect silver color. I wish i could have ordered my G80 in this color. I have a Oxide Gray G80 which i think is closer to Donington Gray then the Skyscraper Grey is. Scyscraper Gray for me is too blue-ish in certain lighting conditions (although you do not see it in the pictures in this post). I really dislike the blue-ish look (although it is not as bad as Brooklyn Grey, which really has a extreme blue-ish look in certain conditions).
My personal Grey Top 5 of these 5 grays is : 1) Porsche GT Silver 2) Donington Gray 3) Oxide Gray 4) Skyscraper Gray 5) Brooklyn Gray.
But that is just my personal preference......

FWIW, my now departed G82 was in Brooklyn Gray, which I never really cared for. The color, not the car. The car was awesome.

The new M550ix was an in-stock car that I did not order, but kind of fell into (no regrets) and the Skyscraper Gray is growing on me. I'm not a silver kind of guy, but it has some depth and uniqueness to it not found in the silvers of old that faded so badly after a few years.

I really don't see the blue in it, but it's definitely a color that does better in the sunshine.

OP, beautiful combination you got there, enjoy it!
