I tell you what, just because you can drive a performance car, it doesn't necessarily make you a racing driver

It's seems obvious from several reviews, if you launch the CSL properly, then you know what a beast you're in

Thank you for sharing

Matt Watson hands down the worst driver on youtube. I have never seen someone have more issues launching a variety of cars...and scratching he head why, "this car launches so weird and soft." lol.

turn off the nannies and learn throttle control.

Both amazing cars. Cannot go wrong either way. The big difference is that BMW greatly underrates their horsepower figures.
The CSL is closer to 600 hp supposedly…
It explains everything.

I was trying to be nice with my comment but I find Matt to be a bit of a twat really

There, I said it 😂

What? You mean actually drive the car? Unpossible!

Him launching manual cars is even funnier.

True, but I'd rather chew my knuckles than watch him being a w⚓

I only watch BMW related drag races from him; nothing else

Which he freely admits. One of the reasons watching him drive somewhat poorly is fun is that what he gets out of a car is much closer to what most people could manage than reviewers who are actually close to being proper race drivers, such as Chris Harris.

We don't get a true representation of what the cars are actually capable of with Mat, but perhaps in various moments of self-honesty many of us could admit that we are probably closer to Mat's skill than Chris's.

At least this is somewhat comparable.

Similar weight, similar power, both rwd.

The m4 is just faster.

The CSL must have more horse power than 550. That said and no one asked me (I know) — I just can't stand the looks of the AR cars. It took a while for the new G80 face/design to grow on me and I'm mostly there. These AR cars … I feel like they look uglier every time I look at them.

I've never liked the Alfa's either.

Only the GTA's spoiler can make the CSL's seem subtle.

Isn't that the standard British press car used in all UK reviews with the adjustable bucket seats and shod on PS4S?

If that is the case, it explains a fair bit since the GTA is fitted with PSC2 and the result on the launch and braking would have been quite different if it was shod with the proper PSC2R...

I find "launching" of most cars these days is very much a Logitech experience: push a button, press a pedal, hold on.

Agreed! That is part of the reason I stick with manual transmissions.

CarWow, StraightPipes, Throttle House .... They all failed miserably launching the car

BUTTTTTTT

I acknowledge, when you have the car for only a few hours, it's hard to find the Goldilocks moment that quickly

Also, welcome to, BimmerPost, our zany corner of the BMW world

Based on my small 231 mile sampling owning this thing, this is far and away the most accurate journalist review:
