Mine gets here today from Brit at bmwpartspros.
Let's hope my install will be easy. Lol.

Ok spent 10mins just now and got it installed. Required a good amount of force which was scary but didn't leave any marks.
How I was able to get mine off: 1. Mask off the top right and bottom sides with painters tape. 2. Start by prying the top side. A wide pry tool with a 90 degree bend worked best for me so I get enough leverage since the dial gets in the way. 3. Once the top pops out keep that pry tool in place so it doesn't pop back in. Use another pry tool on the right side and work your way from the top corner down to the bend until the right side lifts then you can pull it out by hand. For me I couldn't get enough of the pry tool in on the bottom side so I started on the top where the buttons give you the necessary wiggle room. Hope this helps. Also saw iND has these on their site now. Edit: For some reason the 2nd and 3rd pics uploaded in the wrong order from my phone lol Last edited by tkblingx2; 12-02-2022 at 06:07 PM.. |

A quick image of where I used the pry tool. Red for the first tool (there's a ridge between the two red lines so avoid that area), blue for the second. Good luck!

It's in. Bloody hell that was hard work. LOL.
Lots of force. Had to work from top, down the side and it popped up into the sky and nearly hit the roof. Used 4-5 different tools. Won't be doing that again. Last edited by as7920; 12-05-2022 at 11:30 AM.. |

Man that was an a$$ whipping. I had better luck starting from right side and working down. Looks much better. But never again.
Thanks to Brit at BMW Parts Pros!

To confirm, this is the correct part number for M4 left side drive (US), correct?

Finally got round to this myself. UK car so swap left/right for USA.
Steps I used. 1. Blue tape around part 2. Use a wide bladed trim tool on the top (near rotary dial) edge (both sides of part) and pry. Might hear a pop 3. This frees up the left hand side a little so use trim tool to work this up At this point I had the top edge up a few mm but couldn't raise it further (see slots on replacement part - it needs to exit vertically) nor get a pry tool in the front edge. At this point my video stopped! 4. I now pushed the top back in a little whilst pulling on left side. Rear popped up and then part just lifted out! basically just had to align it vertically but in a raised position. Drop box link to video such as it is below (500MB). https://www.dropbox.com/s/2m6qpdsde5...0p30H.MOV?dl=0 |

Admittedly, I did not read the entire thread. I was thinking the other day that BMW removed this center console "M3 Competition" branding that most of us want and gave us the xDrive badge on the back that most of us don't want. Does that sum it up?

Just installed mine following the method shown by tkblingx2.
Spent 5 minutes lifting up the top part, but once its lifted the rest is easy. |

I was thinking about that as well. I don't see why it wouldn't work and it will probably be a lot easier this way, but I don't know if I have the strength to drill into the console.

Super easy! 5 minute install, just have to use a little force and work from the top, and then down the right side.

I tried with all the trim removal tools I had and didn't manage to pop the thing out. Only popped out the top and nothing further.
In the process, I damaged the surrounding silver trim ( anyone know where I can get a replacement for just the silver bit? Thanks. Last edited by twistedmorphine; 01-18-2023 at 04:50 AM.. |
