Build Week 40

Just got word from BMW Genius I was assigned build week 40 (estimated production per Genius October 1st - 7th) and didn't see a thread yet.

Super excited, got an allocation and production number on Monday.

First Congratulations! Just an FYI don't take the Genius's word. If your build week is 40 then the car only finishes being built the week of October 1st-7th. Then you are looking at an additional 4-6 weeks before it gets to the dealer. It should be in your Driveway November/December. I am build week 36 and my car should be in my driveway October/November. The wait sucks but from what I have seen by most people on the forum is that the geniuses aren't the greatest when it comes to timelines......

Call BMW Customer Relations, give them your production number, and they can tell you.

I think I misunderstood what Genius said as delivery, you're correct in that's production. My goof!

you can download the bmw extension for google and it will give you all of the details you are looking for. It was created by a forum member. Then once you know what week your car is set to be completed you can figure out what build week you are. For example if your production date is 10/02 then your build week is the 40th week of the year 10/1-10/7.

Once you enter status 150 if the Carbon buckets are still on the build my understanding is you are good to go and the inventory is accounted for your build. If you enter 150 and that option has disappeared off your build then you know you are not getting them. I could be wrong but that is my understanding.

So does the buid week mean car is built and completed on that week 10/1 to 10/7? Or does it mean it will start the build process ?

I just found out I'm also week 40. Put in order and deposit on July 19, got an allocation on July 31st. Wasn't expecting it to be this quick based on members' experiences on this forum. We'll probably have it delivered around the first week of December. I'm in California. Sooner, if you're elsewhere in the US.

You won't know what your production date is until you're status 150. The build week is a tentative assignment that you'd expect to get some day within that week. Once you get your VIN and are 150, the site/BMW Genius can tell you what the actual production date is. That'll be the date it'll *finish* production.

That is when the car has been completed and is ready for shipment.

Finally got an allocation with carbon buckets after waiting for over a year. Can’t wait to see some progress on the actual build process.

My build is Alpine as well. I narrowed it down to Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey or Portimao Blue.

Alpine was just that color I couldn’t pass on.

My last two cars have been white, but I think there’s a reason why it’s considered a classic color. It’s works.

I was sold on Brooklyn in the beginning, but after seeing it in person, I wasn’t as impressed. The same thing happened with Portimao.

You get those black accents and carbon fiber parts on Alpine though and WOOOOOOOOOOO, we got a party for the senses. lol I don’t understand how a color as common as white can make a vehicle pop so much and turn heads. White is the only color that consistently does that for me, regardless of the vehicle.

I was actually thinking of Brooklyn grey… saw both parqued next to each other, no mods, both black interior in a cars and coffe and the white talked to me LOL. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

It’s weird because Brooklyn looks phenomenal in pictures, IMO, but when you see it in real life it doesn’t look the same. It’s a very unique color, but it’s a very dull color that just mutes the lines and the overall presence of the car.

More power to people that love it, but I decided against it. I won’t lie though. A part of me regrets passing on Brooklyn, but then I just see Alpine and I can’t say “no.” lol

What color interior did you do?

I was very torn on the color as well. I decided to go with Alpine White as well. I feel the black contrasts with the shadow line trim really makes everything pop. I really love the Brooklyn gray, but I feel the color is so played now. I see minivans rocking that color now. My wife got a new Porsche Cayenne in chalk color which is very similar to Brooklyn gray so glad I didnt go that route. Though white is the most played so what do i know lol, it whats you like.
