Out-of-State purchase from CA dealership

Does anyone have any experience buying from a CA BMW dealership and shipping it out of state?

I have a business in Oregon that I always register my work vehicles to, as I use them for my business.

I've had no issue with this with Porsche, Land Rover, etc in the past. Probably bought 5-6 cars this way before.

The BMW dealership seems to have no clue what to do now, and are saying that they can't do that.

I literally explained this to them when I ordered the car and they said that it's totally fine. The salesman said it's no problem at all.

Now the salesman is telling me that his manager says that they can't ship it (or even let me ship it) out of state to register the vehicle to my company.

What a mess.

What reason did they give?

Is the car built and at the Dealership?

They said they have some "corporate policy" (corporate meaning the company that owns a bunch of dealerships, not BMW themselves) against it.

Yep, the car is built and at the dealership.

Is this Swickard Automotive Group in Oregon? Their BMW dealership in Seattle area was also clueless.

I think they have someone who is willing to pay more than you, and they’re coming up with an excuse.

No it's a BMW dealership down here in Southern California. Formerly called Steve Thomas BMW.

They have a great reputation from their independent dealership days, but they were just bought out by some huge dealership conglomerate. Maybe they came in with new rules.

I put my deposit down and signed the order when they were still independent.

I'm trying to understand the dealership's response to your situation. So does this dealership only sell to in-state consumers and businesses--and was this clearly stated in some contract/paperwork?

While I have not purchased cars under my business, I have purchased cars in a neighboring state for personal use and it has never been a problem.
