Upgrading the S58 charge pipes - step by step DIY

Ok y'all... its serious now with Kies Motorsports and Mishimoto Automotive for big power upgrades into the G87 M2. Since its the same S58 motor, I wanted to share the process here, though there may be a few minor differences.

The weakest point in most modern BMW engines are the charge pipes, especially if you plan on going beyond stock horsepower. Mishimoto makes a fantastic upgrade to the weaker plastic charge Y pipe in the S58 motor, and I knew I wanted it.

This isn't as easy as some of my DIYs but I will walk you through every single step that will allow you to do this yourself.

Check it out!

The charge pipe on this platform is not a weak point, its no longer prone to failure like It was on the F chassis.

But Mishimoto makes a high quality upgrade over stock for people who want to be on the safe side.

Definitely better than stock S55s that is for sure.

Has anyone actually broken a set of these at stock manifold levels?

I doubt it. However, you never know. If the stock charge pipes weren’t in such a discrete position, everyone would replace them.

Highly unlikely while relatively new.

Think i've only heard of these blowing at 40psi+. The single turbo guys use a custom charge pipe so the only cars that will be blowing up a plastic charge pipe will be the heavily modified upgraded twin turbo cars.

Op, great video as always !

Haven't seen one break, as mentioned this is not a reliability upgrade.
