I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but how easy would it be for someone who doesn't wrench to install?

It's very easy. The only difficulty is the angle your arm is required to be at. However, I attempted to get it back OUT for my break-in service and couldn't get it. I'm guessing there's something of a trick to it (and I understand that they don't survive being removed). It didn't get mentioned during the service.

Which clutch stop did you go with? BMS? You use all the rings it came with to prop it up as much as possible?

i dont see any way that clutch stop is coming out without tearing it. Regardless, nobody is going to care or likely even notice that it is there. I certainly don't plan on removing mine for service.

Nice! How long is the break in? 1,200 miles right? Have you noticed any difference in exhaust sound?

I like to add rings not drop lol. I have a new BMW clutch stop just waiting. I may buy a 2nd to get the rings.

Installed mirror tap and blendmount for Uniden R7 (after updating to the latest code that now has auto lockouts). It was not too hard an install thanks to the folks on bimmerpost identifying the correct leads to tap (I got a quote to do this install of $200 from a local electronics shop and that is a rip off for a 20 minute job). It's a little tight in there and I used a interior removal tool to remove the covers and they came off and went back on pretty easily, although one clip did break but did not cause any issue when putting it back together.
It should be noted if you do a mirror tap, even after you shutdown and lock your M3/M4 - G80/G82 the power for the detector will remain on for about 5 minutes before it shuts off unless you manually power it down, but it does turn off and hopefully doesn't drain the battery. The computer will let you know if there are any unusual battery drains, at least it does on my E93 M3 with the same tap and mount. If you are a little handy and want a clean install, I say go for it. Negative is the left most brown on the big connect and 12V positive is the red/pink on the far right of the big connect if you are interested. |

Yeap, recommended break-in is at 1,200 miles or 1,600km. I got mine done right at 1,108. I noticed that I now have more power. It feels like it was "unlocked" from having 100% power. It definitely wants to really get up and go now when I hit the gas. The exhaust does sound a little better but it's not night and day difference.

Spent 4 years up in Geilenkirchen and racked up 56 laps on the 'Ring in my E46 and later E92 M3s. Enjoy!
