M4 G82 Gearbox Issue

I have a M4 Competition G82 rear wheel drive and the gearbox has been off twice in 12 months and had to go back to dealer for a flush and reenergise. Has anyone in this forum had a gearbox issue especially in the higher gears 6, 7, 8 ?

I'm having a hard time understanding:

1. What your issue is? What do you mean by "off"
2. What did dealer did? Sounds like they flushed the fluid and re-flashed the transmission software?

That's normal, you must have had a few loose gears in there. Happens from time to time. The dealers know how to deal with those.

NO IT DOESN'T. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY HAD TO TAKE OUT THE GEARBOX TWICE!?!?!?!??!?!

Please post the service papers that show what the dealership found and did. That will best help us comment.

Sometimes the gearbox battery gets drained and needs to be recharged. It usually happens when you replace blinker fluid and don't screw the cap back on properly.

Man...these things have gotten so complicated. I, and Pepperidge Farms, remember when you could change blinker fluid without any interaction with the transmission battery. Ah, the days of simpler machines...

It might be that they installed a left-hand drive transmission into your right-hand drive car. Check the boot.

No kidding - I love the responses, folks pulling their hair out. Wailing. Gnashing of teeth, etc.

I've had issues with mine hanging up in 9th and 10th gear. Been to the dealership so many times to fix but they can't replicate the issue. I call bull! I may have to look at "reenergise". I may have to have them install an 11th gear so I can skip from 8th right to 11th on the freeway and get better MPG.

Had this same issue. I also asked them to find the rattle when I exceed 180 mph in 9th but not 10th gear. They were unable to replicate the issue. Apparently they don’t warranty the trans once you go over 179. What a hunk of junk!

I’m selling my M4 for a Lamborghini Miura that I found with 10 miles on the odometer! It was parked in a barn due to the original owner dying the day he bought it. Out the door I paid 890 bucks. They wanted 1000 but I’m a shrewd negotiator..

Bye Bye BMW.

Consider going in the opposite direction. Ditch the gears and do a CVT conversion.

Ask your SA if you can get Koenigsegg's Direct Drive as replacement.

Had the same problem w/ my manual tranny in 11th gear. So the dealer adjusted the fetzer valve and rebooted the magnetic flux capacitor and it seemed to fix the issue.
