Good eye--- at the time when I got them, its was the only customizable and fast delivery wheel I could get. The are about 5 lbs a wheel lighter than the OEM 21's but unsprung weight is not an issue with this car.

I see now from your video post that you had the 19's which just dont have the proper tires and widths IMHO. I really dont know how Tesla did it with the Plaid though and the grip off launches with so much power. Even other high HP AWD systems have slip and I rarely notice it unless the ground is wet or the tires are super cold. Even my tuned M8 with more tq than my tuned M3 has some negligible wheel spin.

Ive been rather satisfied with the 295's out back on the car in normal street conditions.

This video is just for fun but the modded Plaid makes a move...

I think the stance is perfect and the wheels are a perfect fit. I looked at a lot of wheels for this car, and I don’t even see one set that I like, and these are perfect. And I know there are many cars I see these wheels on, and I don’t like them on most cars. This is what they were meant to be on. And clearly the hood the power and weight of the car.

About managing the traction, I heard Jason Cammisa explain in one of the videos, about the car that the ICE motor uses a long line of mechanicals to manage the torque, while the plaids computer controlled electric motor, can adjust the torque up to 1000 times per second.

I had a Model S in 2017 - was new and full of little issues. I think the car drove really really well though. Enough that we bought a Y in 2020, and a Y Performance in 2022.

My wife primarily drives the Y. The one thing that Tesla got right which no one really talks about is the really quick steering ratio and overall steering feel. Every time in jump in the Y, it makes me wish the M3 had the same steering feel. Also driving a car with such low cog is really nice as well. I tell people, it's the ultimate DD/errand car.

I think the steering feel on my Y Performance is great mainly because of the small diameter steering wheel. BMW wheels feel huge in comparison, and a bit worse in tight corners.

Yes and no. We had a current generation XC90 which had the same diameter 'small' steering wheel as the Y and the steering feel was atrocious on that thing!

I think the Tesla steering weight and no dead spots also account for a lot of the feel. I just looked up the steering ratio on the Y -- 10.3:1 which is incredibly quick!

To compare, the G8x even with it's variable rack is something like 14.6:1

Steering feedback on the g80 is horrendous comparing to my tesla.

I never know what the front wheels are doing in my m3. Doesn’t matter the setting. It’s almost scary. Too many adjustments with no feedback. Sometimes you can be in long sweeper not even going fast and you’re constantly making adjustments to the wheel to stay in your lane. Maybe I have a defective steering rack but I have read similar posts about this.

If there’s one thing I truly hate about the m3 are the brakes and the steering. Well that’s 2 things lol. It’s the worst.

I had the F80 prior, and the steering feel on that car was worse than the G80. My G80 came with the stock 18/19 wheels and the steering when using that setup was actually decent. When I changed to the 19/20 826M wheels, I lost a bit of steering feel.

My M3 came with the 19/20 so i wouldn't know the difference.

I just don't like the steering feel at all. It provides no feedback. Sometimes you feel like the next time you have to turn the wheel, your actual wheels won't turn with your steering wheel lol

You're right about the tesla being the ultimate DD btw. I fucking LOVE my tesla. Best daily ever. I'll never go back to an ICE daily.

That definitely looks like the way to do it. You get to reduce the gap, and still keep all of the fancy air suspension. I'm waiting on word to sell my car. I have a few places looking at values for me. But, yours looks so good.

Is your car a lease??? If you did lease it after I think 2021 (Oct) you can only get a BMW center to buy it. But I think you know this either way.

So its random but on my G80X I got the best offer with AutoNation online--- the number came in and then I called the GM and he bumped me to 5k over msrp but I had a lower msrp at 85k. I didnt take it but it was pretty good.

Carvana doesnt understand M.
Vroom too.
CarMax could give you a nice offer but they dont like modded of course.

A BMW dealer might but they hate used M's cause they cant lease them.

I purchased. I took the 0.9% for 60. The only mods on the car are the intake. Everything else is OEM. Even the springs are the M Performance HAS. All carbon is M Performance.

So when you trading for the plaid?

Or will you wait for the redesign?

It’s hard to wait for something knowing how long it’s taken for the Roadster and the Cyber Truck. I’d heard about the Plaid before I ordered my car, but, I didn’t think much of it because Teslas high powered cars all seem to be a pipe dream. 2 months later the Plaid is for sale. I was still on the ordering hype from the G82, though. I loved the waiting game. Especially since my car only took 97 days. The anticipation and waiting for something new, is what I kind of miss. Now I’m ready to sell it.

I know the feeling. There’s so many cars I wanna get and I can’t decide which ones nor the role each one will have. I’m 19 months in my m3 and I was deciding do I get another m3 but xdrive next go around? Do I get an m5 comp and daily that? But then I think about car theft with m cars in my area, which was the reason why I didn’t get the hellcat lol. Then I thought about just getting another m3 and just use that sometimes. But I’m going through it now, 19 months and 8k or some change miles. Do I really wanna do that again? The m3 isn’t weekend toy worthy, it’s daily worthy. So it’s a waste to have the car sit.

When I get my z06 I’ll decide what I wanna do. The z06 comes first since I been waiting since 2020. Maybe my view on future cars will change when I get the z06.

However the plaid being the sole daily/secondary fun car is winning so far. Don’t know if I’ll be back in another m car. It’s a waste for me.

Try searching for existing new inventory, they just marked the Plaids down $7.5k. I pretty much forgot about switching to a Plaid but these prices are getting better so it has me thinking again.

That’s exactly where I’ve been looking. I need the CCBs. The standard brakes are scary and I know myself. I drive too fast for the brakes not to work well. If I could order the CCBs on the order page, like you can with the M4, I’d have already bought one. But, the fact that I have to spend the money for the car, and immediately order $20,000 brakes.

The CCBs aren’t a necessity. It’s just the fact that the stock plaid brakes fail or are highly questionable in every review I’ve ever seen.
