I know this is an old forum but I've had my primary resonator deleted for a while now and I feel like it needs more. I saw r33_RGSport video of his portimao g80 with two straight pipes in place of both resonators. To me it has the high pitch screen a little similar to a single midpipe. I was wondering does a setup like this create drone? Can someone also provide a cold start video with valves closed with this setup if possible? Thank you in advance!

Just delete your secondary cats and deal with the startup sound

I do, catless DP with both res delete before the muffler with X pipe. Res right after the DP still in place. Sound wise you will think that I got a full exhaust system, but not as loud as full exhaust system.

Okay. I have a catless downpipe on a otherwise stick exhaust. I don't know if deleting the two square resonators will be enough for me, as well as if it'll be too raspy. When you say the resonator right after the downpipe, you mean the crossover pipe correct?

Correct. No rasp at all. If you want it louder take out everything and replace with X or H.

Are there any benefits to a longer X connection?

Would a Y to a Y (single pipe) make a positive or negative impact at all? Just thinking less is more.

Not sure. All the aftermarket manufacturers designs are similar to this.

School me as I am a noob when it comes to X/H pipes. Why would an X or H pipe as opposed to straight pipe make it louder? I thought it just changes the tone/pitch, not the volume.

Looking to delete secondary cat and first resonator. For those that have this set up or have both resonators deleted, is there a big difference in how loud the cold start is?

Noticeably louder in both M1 and M2. Even in M1 (remote start) I would say 30-40% louder than stock.

Cold start is actually a horrific sound. There's about 1-2 seconds where it resonates horribly and creates this Honda Civic esq buzz, that led me to go with a single midpipe now.

All this mid pipe drone and rasp talk has me back to just paying whatever it takes to make the most power as my primary goal. Im just gonna do quality catted DPs with the ER crossover pipe and see how it sounds. Then remove the secondary cats and see how that sounds. If that sounds good I’ll be done. If that makes it raspy I will add some bullet style resonators back in where the secondary cats were.

I live in SWFL. It's basically a lawless swamp down here. Anyway, my local go-to(multiple recommendations) muffler shop won't remove the secondary cats. Didn't even want to bother removing the resonators. So right now I'm SOL.

Sounds better than you'd think with the res delete

I had mine done at Daytona beach, wasn't able to find anyone in central FL. DM me if you need their contact.

Genuine question, I've seen very very few people do an H-pipe. I might just be imagining it but I feel like there's a difference in tone. Right now my primary res is gone but I still have the secondary one. I've been thinking of deleting the second one too, but I'm debating if I should do a straight pipe or H-pipe. I feel from an H-pipe there's a little different note or tone it makes. If you have videos please attach below! I've been trying to achieve that high revving sort of "scream" in the higher part of the rev range.

Maybe a dumb question, but does the exhaust have to come off the car for the muffler shop to cut and weld pipes, or are they able to weld it while it's still on the car?
