Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have to cast a way wider net. Start inquiring with dealers around the country. I bought out of state and the process was easy

I reached out to Arlington BMW, unfortunately they told me they cannot sell to anyone out of state at the moment.

Called dealers in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada all which either have 8-14 people on the waitlist or aren’t selling out of state. 😓

I'm from Nevada and I don't get any of my cars here. Most people here go to Southern California.

I'm confused. This document says stuff like active BSM is not standard on the m3 comp, but on a different bimmerpost thread I see that it is, so which is it? Furthermore, what is the parking assistance package, I don't see it on bmwusa so I can't see what it entails, is it also no longer available?

Park assistance includes 360 cameras, drive recorder, and for Comp cars it includes park assistance feature (auto park). It's not available on the configurator but can be added by the dealer.

Ah ok sounds good. I've been trying to find out any options or packages I may be missing from the online builder. Thankful for this doc. Do you know what's up with active BSM and all?

Realistically - Say I go to the dealer and say I want a base G80 M3 COMP.... How much would I expect to pay with taxes. 77K? Trying to make sense if I should get rid of M340i

I believe the math is pretty simple.

MSRP based on your configuration + dealer fee + registration + tax.

There are variables based on your location and no one here will be able to give you an accurate on road pricing.

Quick lesson on allocations? I’ve never ordered a car but am considering ordering a G80 base. I’d always assumed that anyone could order an M car at anytime, and that dealer allocations were for the dealers’ stock.

In other words, I thought these were decoupled concepts…. are they not?

Sticky thread has an comprehensive summary on the process. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1811516

Dealer allocations can be used for dealer inventory or customer order. You can order a M car at anytime but BMW is hardly giving out allocations because of current issues.

They are not. Allocations are allocations. Ones that aren't sold go on the lot.

So a small dealer that moves very few M cars will get few allocations which means local buyers will need to order from other /larger dealers.

My local dealers seem to get a ton of M cars once production is in full swing, so the current supply chain issue comment makes sense.

But I always thought one could order anything they want, always, from any dealer. I stand corrected!

To be clear, you can "order" any car at any time, and many do. It's when the order is fulfilled that's an issue. The dealership needs an allocation. In non-Covid times, this distinction didn't make much of a difference as allocations were plentiful.

You can go into a dealer and order a M vehicle this minute. If the dealer doesnt have an allocation, your order will go to their order bank. Even high volume dealers are hardly getting any allocation (maybe 1 a month) and most dealers selling vehicles at MSRP has a long waitlist for G80.

Also no one knows, how many and when a dealer will get allocations in the near future. Your order is confirmed once your dealer gets an allocation and gives you a production number. You might take delivery 4 to 6 months after that.

For all of those looking for an allocation, I've basically contacted all the dealers I know with possible allocations and it's pretty bad out there. Here is what I learned from my search (please take this seriously).

-Always try to talk directly with the sales manager at the dealership (the client advisors rarely know the whole and correct story)
-Many dealers mistake 'allocation' with reservation/waiting list. Make sure they understand the difference
-If the dealer has a waiting list, don't bother with the small dealers as they will likely never get an allocation and stick with the volume dealers
-Be careful as not all dealers allow out of state buyers (make sure to confirm)
-Make sure to justify the deposit amount for either the waiting list or even the allocation (dont put more than $2k down if you have to)
-Make sure the deposit is fully refundable (get it in writing - you would be surprised what these dealers policies are)

Hope this helps the forum members

Steve
