Thanks - I get the steering bit, but what is the integrated braking system? Integrated into what? It reads that it is integrated into the steering, but that obviously doesn’t make any sense.
Not trying to be snarky here, just curious…

Your guess is as good as mine.
I’m sure glad it’s “integrated” though.

Does anyone know when they’ll start the reviews based on launch date and review for the CSL?

Not sure what the internal plumbing will be like, but assuming it’s the same can used on the CSL, it will be a bit louder.

But most of the sound difference will come from the material. Less can be utilized with titanium, so there will be a sweet tone from that.

This 3.0-liter unit also forms the basis of the engine that powers the BMW M4 GT3 and boasts a wealth of technological details derived directly from racing experience. Its crankcase has a sleeveless, closed-deck construction and is extremely rigid, making it suitable for very high combustion pressures. The forged lightweight crankshaft aids power build-up with its high torsional resistance and allows for high revs. The cylinder head has a 3D-printed core, allowing the coolant ducts to be routed in an optimum arrangement for temperature management that would be impossible to achieve using conventional metal casting methods. The oil supply system is designed to handle the specific challenges of track use, as is the cooling system.
That’s the exact same text that was in the original G8X press release. It does not indicate anything bespoke to the CS/CSL

Without sounding like an asshole, here. I'll apply a little bit of logic to your comment. First, 997 GT3, and a manual, at that. It's probably under 3,000 pounds. The M3 CS, is 3,920ish.

So, were talking about a 900 pound weight difference, and you've already identified that the clutch is kind of stock, but is really made for a higher hp car. You may as well park a Chevy Tahoe on the roof of the GT3.

Second, the 996 Cup car. Again, manual trans, probably even lighter, 2,600-2,700 pounds. 1,300-1,400 pounds lighter than the M3 CS. This also has an aftermarket clutch.

With an aftermarket clutch, 8.5" twin disk being the size you need to stay in, that you're convinced the manufacturers can make adequate enough to handle a 3,900 pound car, we can put 1,400 pounds worth the sandbags in the GT3, to see how well the clutch handles it.

BMW being an OEM, is selling a car that needs to last 100k miles before anything troubling happens to the car. The car will hold 5 adults. Lets load the M3 with 5 adults, and do what a customer would do, activate launch control.

How would you look as a manufacturer if customers were coming to you, saying, "I tried to launch the car and I burned the clutch up." The customer applying the same logic, by not accounting for 5 people being in the car. Now, you have a 3,900 pound car and 985 pounds worth the adults, average adult male weighing approx 197 pounds, tipping the scales at 4,885 pounds. Let's activate launch control, because this is a BMW.

Find me an OEM clutch, one that has a streetable clutch pedal, because, this is a customers family sedan, one that holds the power with the car fully loaded at the max GVWR door sill weight, and one that you don't have to jump off the driver's seat to depress. Oh, and it has to last 100k miles.

I'm not trying to convince you, but this is where "It cracks me up, when." Goes out the window.
Ten years ago BMW made a manual 4,400lb M5 with 560hp and 500lb-ft of torque…

I know you loooove to prove me wrong. But that’s easy when you compare a 260mm clutch kit to a 215mm clutch kit.

There’s no replacement for displacement. And clutch displacement is vastly different. 2” of surface area is kind of a big deal for a clutch disc and pressure plate.

I'm hearing it is only 1 car per dealer for the whole model year. There will be no additional allocations.

Bummer. Won’t be a whole lot to pick from on the used market.

Thats fewer than the M5 CS, almost on par with the CSL. But with xdrive and back seats, thats lower than demand. Not sure what the reasoning is behind such a decision.

Its not like its limited by parts like the CSL was (with the fixed carbon buckets)

Probably just doing it for hype and to not have them sitting on lots like the last generation. However by doing this plus the small window of time for orders to be submitted really makes this a poor decision.

Not many new performance cars coming out this year. All of the 992.1 variants have been released, Porsche will probably release the Spyder RS, 911ST. BMW has the new M2.

So demand for the CS will probably be off the charts especially because of usability and 0-60 time. Its really not a wise decision to limit production this much with such a small order window.

Agree. Even if they had done 5-10 allocations per dealer over the next year that would have been immensely better while still making it a fairly limited production car.

Isn't the M3CS supposed to be produced until March of next year, thats a longer run than the CSL (at least what is was supposed to be)
