What option changes are expected for the LCI?

I’m thinking of dropping my M2 order and getting into a G80 instead. Problem is there are sooooo few available on lots. I want base 6spd trim in gray or white with red interior and am pretty open to options otherwise (more or less). So hard to find availability. But if I order one it’s going to be 6mo-1yr likely.

So is it pretty much a done deal that the g8x is the last ICE versions of these cars?

Someone mentioned this dealer's in stock cars on the pricing forum. They have two manual cars online, one white/fiona and one gray/fiona. Not sure how close you are but here's the gray one: https://www.bmwofbloomington.com/inv...3ay09pfn46478/

Thanks! I’m trying to find one closer to $80K. Budget after tax is about $85K max. M2 is much more budget friendly but I could use the extra space for the kids and the M2 keeps getting delayed it seems.

Some of this is shortsighted and lacks the imagination necessary to fully understand what BMW has done with radical redesign on the grills for the G80 series. It is unique among all BMW model lines and makes it immediately recognizable and this, in twenty years makes it a classic automobile. Combine that with the superior driving abilities of the car with AWD, which makes it more practical and assessable to those of us who live in the northern climate and you have the highest sale numbers ever for an M car. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. BMW knew what they were doing, if you don’t believe me check the allocation thread. I would be shocked if the LCI included any changes to the grill, enough of us appreciate and like it to continue to buy the car.
This might be a shocking revelation but you can like a car & still dislike certain aspects of it. There is no "lack of imagination" or whatever you're on about, it's just not a good looking front end to most people. I for one was able to see past the front end & appreciate everything the G80 does do well but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't swap it for an F80 style front end in a heartbeat.

This is the problem with forums like these, folks get way too financially invested in their car & can no longer be objective thus feeling the need to defend every little thing about it. If you like the grille there's nothing wrong with that, doesn't change the fact that the G80 sells well because the entire car is amazing, the exterior design not so much.

Well said.

The common response that “BMW sold lots of G8Xs therefore people love the styling” is just nonsense. Plenty of people (including M fans) buy cars despite disliking certain features. I know numerous G8X owners who’d happily swap their front end for something more attractive.

Personally, I’m praying the LCI brings more cohesive design. 🙏🤞🏼

I'm not an owner currently but I'm in this camp. The cars mechanical abilities allow me to look past it a little bit but I would love to see a better front end design.

Barring Benz putting an I6 in the upcoming CLE63, the M4 has no competitors in its segment, even less when looking for a convertible.

You can say this about any car on the planet. There are always evolutionary styling cues you can point to as potential deal breakers. But youd think this thing was the Pontiac Aztec the way some here discuss it.

At the end of the day, if it’s that big of a deal, continue to stay on the sidelines. It really is that simple. Not everything is for everyone. “Vote with your wallet”, right?

The unfortunate thing though about that (and the reason that sales numbers are important) is people are voting with their wallets. So BMW has no incentive to change the styling because it’s the best selling M model EVER. As a company why would I dramatically change a product that is selling like crazy?

And if you don’t like the grill I have really good news for a few of you here…

In 4 years time the car won’t need one at all.

might be a stupid question, but does this mean that allocations from july 2024 and onward would have the LCI? or allocations prior to july but being built during/after july?

Yes, allocations that are designated to go into production after the start of the G80 MY25 production date will be LCI. That will be in July of 2024.

I am on the very opposite of the spectrum here... i really am not in love with the way the front end looks but in a darker color, I think it looks perfectly fine and distinguishes the car as an M car real well. It would not stop me from buying the car... in real life it looks way better than any photos.

The way the car drives on the other hand...

For now, I wonder if BMW will have a change of heart similar to Toyota, their stance on EV is alarming to the say the least and I hope BMW takes note or IMO their reign as the number 1 will be very short lived IMO and trust me I love the brand I just dont see EV being the future, not yet at least.

If you want the dated old front end back go buy a used F80. The rest of us will move on without you.

Okay I am sure I am in the minority.
I like the front end and cars overall stance. Something is just a little off that a bit of tweaking may make it amazing. It’s actually the side I think.
Personally I love it and will be M4 CS bound if it’s in a nice blue color or a green
I would get another in a heartbeat as who else makes two dour coupes anymore. Mustang is nice but a Mustang and get 500 more money
If I spend a chunk more I am Z06 bound for sure
