I really hope not…I’m not a fan of the CSL design.

This.

I feel these rumours & rumblings are mostly from non G8x owners and yet to see any valid source. Not sure why this thread made it to the homepage. It doesnt have any valid information other than the LCI being scheduled in Mar 2024.

Come on BMW...right the wrongs of the Covid era grilles and bring us some good stuff for the LCI! This is excitement that I hope doesn't end like it did when the G87 was released.

Technically it is the real LCI because it is the 3 series LCI (was that not real)? It’s the same thing they have always done with the M3 about 1.5 years after launch.

This new LCI is a new thing as it’s really the first rumored conplete LCI for the M3/M4 and only because they extended its production a couple years so they thought it was needed.

Having said that I do anticipate it will have more than just a couple minor tweaks. Maybe a power bumb as it will be the last gas engine M3/M4 ever made.

As reported in the below post, BMW documents regular model updates as LCI and previous generation M model updates were never called as LCI. G8x might be the first M platform which will be receiving an official LCI.

G80/1/2 LCI will feature a revised powertrain with power gains of 38 & 52 bhp + 46 & 57 lb/ft torque for standard and Competition models, respectively. Weight will be reduced by 78 and 64 kg's for RWD and xDrive models, respectively. Weight reduction is thanks to new and lighter body panels, titanium exhaust system (PPF in Europe will have some effect on power output), and a revised electronic powering steering setup (which also promises improved feedback; likely carry-over system from the XM). The 6MT lives on in the standard models. A revised ZF 8 speed should provide snappier, crisper shifts "similar to a DCT".

LCI M3/M4 will debut iDrive 9.0; H&K audio will be replaced by a new B&W Hi-Fi sound system, which will also replace all H&K systems for MY2024 and newer BMW's. Ventilated seats will be offered for the first time on carbon bucket seats. Heated AND ventilated rear seats will also be offered on all M3 variants.

LCI exterior colors: Ascari Bronze replaces Sao Paulo Yellow (think Sepang Bronze with more shine), Jerez Grey Metallic replaces Brooklyn Grey (across all BMW models), and Laguna Seca Blue II Metallic (!!!) replaces Tanzanite Blue II Metallic.

LCI interior colors: all current interior colors remain, with Tartufo finally being available for carbon bucket seats.

Exterior changes: Refreshed head/tail lights. Revised grill will replace the horizontal slats for something similar to the 3.0 CSL Hommage concept's mesh design.

I think the most one can realistically expect is a grille insert change. The grille opening shape and size are here to stay (good thing, IMO).

I’ve been impressed by the looks of the CSL and some aftermarket CF options. I’d definitely be down for a more aggressive insert that’s actually OEM. ADRO and Vorsteiner bumpers prove that BMW M had it right; both of those options are big downgrades to me.

The last LCI for the X3M is likely a good indication of the scale of change we will see. There weren’t major changes on the grill itself, but the font cover and headlights changed substantially.

They are way too proud of the huge grilles to change them. They've already said they don't care what people think. They are more like Steve Jobs with Apple - We will tell people what they like. Grilles on all of their cars only keep getting larger. I can't see them suddenly shrinking one.

I think the difference between the LCI m5 and the 2019 one is a big difference. It kindve made the 19’ look dated. I just think car companies should chill, like the Camaro zl1 for example, it’s minimal changes keeps that car looking new.

Lol not sure if this is a joke but the doors are already aluminum and the fenders are already pretty light (and flimsy). Maybe they go aluminum on the trunk and hood (which I’m not sure if they already are) or maybe CF hood? They would save that for the M3 CS and keep it distinct from the CF CSL hood i’m guessing.

I agree 100% with this. The aftermarket options to “fix” the grill are huge downgrades imo. BMW got it right whether this forum likes it or not. It’s polarizing and they made it work with the current design way better than any of these high end aftermarket companies are trying to do.
