Ya,. I think a lot of posters assume this is the car we're getting when it's just a concept showcasing a design philosophy.

Best is always arguable, but nobody will hate on Vivo phones, Afghanistan, or Kia on the Internet. Power and success attracts admiration and hate. It doesn't matter how you call ix, it wins every single comparison, buyers are happy, and BMW is happy with it. You may personally hate it yourself, but it's a bit narcissistic to claim that everybody hates it because you do.

Secondly I didn’t claim everybody hates the ix, I called it “a bag of shit” & I totally stand by my summation. Try to understand that just because something is popular (be it the iX or anything else) doesn’t make it any good ! (something you & sadly other sheep struggle with). Believe it or not we don’t all base the worth of something on whether it’s popular & whether others like it. Thankfully some of us were given the ability to investigate & interpret things for ourselves. Oh & It’s narcissistic to claim everybody likes it because you do (see same logic).

To add fuel to this dumpster fire, many of the car companies direction seems to be focused on tech over driving engagement, which is Ok but unfortunate at the same time. The economics are just not in our favor. It’s the reason a Singer 911 has a multi-year wait list and costs big 💵. It’s the reason E46 m3s and E39 m5s continue to skyrocket in value. Modern enthusiast cars are becoming few and far between.
Let’s hope BMW retains some of the M tradition. |

I think most of us old timers need to stop yelling at the clouds. The automotive gestalt is changing at an almost exponential rate and most people do not like rapid change, it is our nature to try and preserve our comfort zone.
We are comfortable with what we grew up with, with what we have owned, driven, lived in over the last 10-20 years. My late grandmother moved from Arkansas to Muskogee OK in a covered wagon and watched man walk on the moon. My late father was a nuclear engineer for General Dynamics and it would be an understatement to say he would be amazed that we have radar on our cars, I still find that amazing. I grew up with a rotary phone in our home and I now have a computer in my pocket millions of times more powerful than the one that landed us on the moon and I can make phone calls with it. Remember Dick Tracy's wrist watch? I grew up wrenching on everything that I could get my hands on and now lament how difficult it is to wrench on late model motorcycles, cars and now tractors. With everything new there is good and bad. Some of this objective, I think a lot more subjective. Take the good with the bad, modify both as much as possible to fit our needs, both objectively and subjectively. Life is so short. Dark out now, I'll have to wait for the morning to go yell at the clouds. Regards |

Someone wrote "less is more".
I agree. I have critized BMW for their design accidents starting with the last 7 series LCI, the M3/M4 kidneys and finally the ugly split headlights of the X7 and 7er more recently. But I do like the Dee (retro) design language. Except maybe for the idiotic "square" steering wheel. In my opinion this is the way to go with "huge" kidneys. https://youtu.be/0_jxTdRkCL4 Unlike their touchscreen fiesta it has analogue dials, buttons and a gear lever. Available ten years before this piece of throwaway software/hardware shite will launch. |

BMW is all over the map with their design language. XM, i Vision Dee, G80.
They seem to be unsure of where to go. Last edited by chassis; 01-07-2023 at 09:46 PM.. |

Actually exterior design looks good. Interior does not impress me.

So, this is like BMW's vasectomy for car enthusiasts and the, "Ultimate Driving Machine" right?
