Don't need CustomROM for it, I have the regular BM3 without CustomROM and can set valves to stay open in Sport/sport Plus via BM3 map config options.

Flex fuel, not PI. Maybe PI one day, but one step at a time! 🤣

Can anybody confirm that the Visconti flex fuel and motive reflex Kit work with BM3?

I just got the flex fuel kit in the mail today. When I talked to them (bm3) they said it works with bm3 that is why I got it as long as it is CANBUS which it is. Just waiting on my ECU to return still. Even on their site under the customrom it says works with visconti.

Here is the post:
Is there an S58 Flex Fuel hardware kit?
Our S58-specific Flex Fuel kit hardware is on the way so be on the lookout! Any other flex fuel kit based on the off the shelf Zeitronix ECA2 CANBUS controller can also be used. In the meantime, you can use the LiveAdjust screen in the app to scale your ethanol content on demand.

The Visconti kit he sells is zeitronix, all he is including is additional hardware to make it easier than someone going straight on the zeitronix site if they don’t click on the canbus one.
So it is compatible because it’s not really his kit

Can this now communicate with a reflex controller like EcuTek, or is it still set it and forget it? If it cannot, I am regretting my decision to go with BM3. May need to redo the process and send it back to FEMTO.

Does anyone know the ETA for this?

I am also hearing the MHD flexfuel kit is in testing and some have it working with BM3 too.

Same here. BM3 kit is way better quality than all others that are so plastic plus if it mounts same location like S55 its cleanest fit too

For 99% of customers that are not going for a crazy build, I would not recommend it. But at the end of the day, it's your car, your choice.
On this subject. My goal is to run 25-35% E85 on a dd. Plan is high flow cat DPs, single mid, intake system of some kind, flex-fuel kit to monitor, vent to monitor the monitor?, and whatever other supporting mods feel right. Should I do something like BM3? Would it be a benefit for my use case? Do I need to send the ECU away to do the BM3? If I can safely get another 50HP that'd be great, safely and as little of a pita as possible being the key here. Been reading a bit and it's difficult to find solid answers as I don't think I understand the subject enough to 'get it'.

Thanks

Im currently running E40 with the Jb4, and I'm pleased with the results.

You will benefit from sending the dme, but unless you upgrade the turbos or run 100% E85, I don't think it's worth it.

Just running the BM3 OTS (off the shelf) Flex Fuel map is worth it vs. JB4 IMO. You can control burbles (I turned off), turn off cold start and control valves in Sport mode. I have the same setup as you mentioned - Visconti Flex Fuel, MST intakes, MAD catted DPs with a Valvetronic mid pipe. It's nice starting the car in the early mornings without the loud cold starts. Drivability with the OTS map is much more improved over the OTS JB4 maps too as the JB4 maps feel like an on/off switch at times. Didn't get as far as getting a custom tuned JB4 map though.

If you're looking for the easiest of the two, I'd probably go JB4 with the Fuel-It kit. Monitor ethanol content on your phone. You don't need to constantly baby sit it so you don't need a full time gauge if you don't want. As of right now, you need to ship off your ECU to Finland for BM3. I did a write up in this section on how to do so yourself.

Good breakdown, appreciate it, and yeah those are precisely the features I want. I just don't want to ship the ECU off to finald... and I'm considering the warranty implications (JB4 would solve that). But I want the features it offers for sure.

Read your shipping writeup, good stuff. So ~2 weeks and some money, hmm... something to consider.

Why the fuel-it kit with the JB4 rather than the Visconti w/ JB4?

I held out for as long as possible but the timing was great as we just had a baby and I didn't need the car for a few weeks anyway. I'm really happy that I did it and have zero regrets. It's a weird feeling starting my car in the morning and it being quiet.

Fuel it is way easier to install and better integration with each other. Visconti requires wiring into the passenger side footwell while Fuel It plugs into JB4 and you can check the values on your phone if your JB4 has the Bluetooth module.

I wouldn't 100% count on warranty going the JB4 route. If something goes south, they'll likely be able to see be able to see abnormal values in the logs that point towards a piggyback. The nice thing about the JB4 is that if you buy a used one, you can pretty much sell it for what you bought it for if you decide to go with the flash. I just sold one but they pop up every now and then if you're patient.

Yeah noticed the logging values that can indicate a piggy. Interesting... ok gotta consider. I feel like BM3 is the way to go if you're going down this route. But sitting at 1500 miles and planning on selling in a couple years I'll likely wait a bit.

Appreciate all the info

Since you’re using BM3 with your unlocked ECU, I’m wondering if there’s any kind of visual indication when you turn the car on that the ECU is unlocked. I read somewhere that the car self identifies as FEMTO unlocked but I haven’t been able to get confirmation.

No indication. Everything appears OEM upon start up.
