A certain Australian golfer Stewart Appleby. Had a a custom M5 Ute built for himself. There are photos of it from being built from scratch to the final product below
https://www.whichcar.com.au/features...e39-bmw-m5-ute BMW South Africa which at one time assembled RHD E30 had a one off E30 323i Ute built as a first response vehicle on race days at Kyalami A lot of South Africans were quite keen on having a German Bakkie (Ute) to take on the Ford Cortina Bakkie that sold so well in South Africa in the early 80’s pity it never materialised.
