These are indicators for cutting the factory exhaust for BMW M-Performance Exhaust option. In this case, we are replacing the midpipe instead of the muffler.

Valves were open.

Wanted to give best case scenario and show difference of volume in enclosed garage vs outside.

This is a sweet pipe. Assuming it would be less aggressive on cold starts compared to an X-pipe design. PSI cold starts were pretty wild.

This setup can be too, especially if you couple catless downpipes with it.

Personally, the Awron Smart CanFlap valve controller is the perfect match - which is what we're using in the video.

Yes, and gives full control over the valves throughout a user-specific RPM band.

We go a bit more in detail in this thread: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1916424

Agree. This is a good option as an alternative to a full exhaust and still retain an OEM+ appearance. The midpipe just sounds fantastic in person.

does any manufacture make a mid-pipe with resonators? not everyone wants the loudest car on the block lol

maybe a resonator before the H-pipe section?

Resonator removal is what gives the additional grunt/attitude that people are looking for. A valve controller (like Awron CANFlap) can be used to further control volume if necessary, but not required.

Catback systems using OEM midpipes will give a tiny sound bump (depending on manufacturer), but at a much higher cost.

yea but when doing DP's then straight mid-pipe and axel back its might be to much grunt/attitude.

that is why i am seeing if there are other options.

Never recommend running catless downpipes and midipe unless you want loud and raspy. Best to pick one or the other.

I’m looking to buy this system. Is there any drone when cruising? What % volume increase would you guess from the system compared to bone stock? (North American car, no OPFs)

Any drive by/acceleration videos with stock valve control? Would love to hear just the mid pipe with everything else factory stock.

Thanks!
Chris
